Of COURSE she asked for it.

I wouldn't put it above them to start throwing acid in the faces of women who wear "men's clothing" (aka pants) and funny colored hair. ESPECIALLY feminists.

4. That poor woman

Since she has the guts to stand up and say she was raped, we have the responsibility to make this go viral. I have never been raped but rape infuriates me. Republicans who use rape as a "wedge" issue more than disgust me.

6. About 15 or 20 years ago ...

I saw an advertisement in a male-oriented magazine 9I think it was Esquire or GQ, but I'm not sure).

It featured a young woman were a low cut blouse, a very short skirt, some fish-net stocking with a visible garter belt and some 6 inch heels, holding a drink that was spilling and had that faint smile that indicated that she might be intoxicated.

The tag-line:

"This is not an invitation to rape."

That ad has stuck with me over all these years.

8. Wow.

There should be a major media campaign with that picture as well as one's like the young woman in the original post, women dressed in every possible configuration of dress with the same tag-line:

"This is not an invitation to rape."

The problem of rape is not women. It's men.

13. I completely agree; but ...

The problem of rape is not women. It's men.

Just wait for the MRA (forum) talking point of ... "Well, she put herself in the position to be raped."

On a related matter ...

Early in my marriage there were some trust issues ... Mrs. 1StrongBlackMan waas concerned that some womanly other would tempt me into infidelity. My response to her was (and still is), "ME sticking MY d!ck into someone, regardless of how willing they are, is a decision that I make and something that I, alone, am responsible for."

This is related to the OP because any sticking of d!ck into a woman by a man is a decision that the man makes (and is responsible for), regardless of what the woman does or says, short of "yes." In the absence of a "Yes", the answer is "no", Period ... Full Stop ... Nothing Following.

26. I agree. Furthermore, absent a 'yes' AND ...

... equivalent interest, I have nothing to "stick" unless (God forbid) I were chemically-assisted. I'm a (rare?) male without the slightest "ability" to engage in intercourse without (not just "consent" but) MUTUAL INTEREST/MOTIVATION. It's how I'm "wired." Even drunk. No matter what. So, even with some "kinky" type with a (sick) "rape fantasy," I'm just plain useless.

It once (sorta) bothered me. Now I'm glad.

53. Well more likely they would want to rephrase it

as "The problem of rape is not rape victims. It's rapists." 'cause guess what, not all men are rapists (despite what some feminists would have you believe). Not all rape victims are female either by the way (though yes, the large majority are). I don't see why it needs to be framed as "gender A is not the problem, gender B is" when the real problem is the criminals and not an entire gender.

54. Parsing and feel good rationalizing ...

No one is saying ALL males are rapists; but all males (including myself) are POTENTIAL rapists.

I've never understood why people attempt to parse common, though clearly imprecise, language to include themselves INTO a suspect group, and then argue for exclusion FROM that group? What gives?

And, BTW, the non-female victims of rape still suffer at the hands of a male, except in those very, very rare instances where a female using some form of tool.

55. No "tool"s are needed for rape

Harry's Law had a very good episode about it.

I'm not sure why you insist on following the "men are evil" school, but whatever floats your boat. No use arguing with a self-hating man. You can classify yourself however you wish; I will be happy over here knowing that I am not a potential rapist, any more than any other person.

56. You really need to examine why ...

you think that because someone comments on (or, in my case, acknowledges) something that men do, not all men, or even most men, but that men do do, that comment places anyone in a "men are evil" school.

I am an aware man. I am an honest man. I am an unafraid man. I am not a self-hating man.

And, as to your last comment ... "I am not a potential rapist, any more than any other person" ... well ... that probably answers my first question. But I'm certain that that will go unexamined.

Outside porn films where the values are so screwed up and no pregnancy ever shows ......... no woman asks for it. Doesn't matter what they do or what they say - NO MEANS NO!

The trouble the GOPT are so used to watching porn - I believe Utah has the highest rate of subscribers - these pieces of shit live their fantasy lives and don't understand what goes on in the real world. And that goes for all their politics too.

33. While the specter of the scary man in the alley or the home intruder are compelling cases for why

women should carry weapons to defend themselves, the number of rapes would go way down if the vast majorities of "nice guys" who feel they're entitled to sex would check themselves and their privileges honestly.

On the other hand, maybe it takes all women to arm themselves for men to stop thinking they're entitled to sex.

ETA: Oh, and welcome to DU.
