Tom Steyer to Spend 40 Million Dollars on Impeachment Efforts

DES MOINES — Billionaire Tom Steyer, a major Democratic donor who has led a crusade to impeach President Donald Trump, said Wednesday that he will not seek the party's 2020 presidential nomination.

The news was first reported by The New York Times and confirmed by NBC News. He was set to make the announcement in Iowa.

@TomSteyer
The impeachment question has reached an inflection point. That’s why I just announced that I will be dedicating 100% of my time and effort in 2019 towards Mr. Trump’s impeachment and removal from office.

Steyer said he will spend at least $40 million on those impeachment efforts over the next year.

I am not a fan of billionaires buying what they want out of politicians. But, desperate times desperate measures.

Effort that is up to him. I don’t see it as having much affect.

Pelosi and the Democrats will undertake Impeachment when the evidence is there, and the prospects of conviction are promising, not because of Steyer's ad campaign.

them off. It helps create the atmosphere. I'm glad he's not running though - that would have been the waste of money.

The evidence is already there, beyond that against Clinton and Nixon. The public hasn't put sufficient pressure on the Senate, yet. Steyer may change that.

At any rate, his efforts are unlikely to interfere with the House, and may increase the power of Democrats. It is not likely to increase Trump's "base" support.

You can't simply buy an impeachment (well unless you're a repub it seems). Would love to see a breakdown of these funds is going to be used.
