(53,661 posts)The EPA is considering historic new standards for air pollution, but billionaires like the Koch brothers are spending big money on D.C. lobbyists to block these reforms.
These new standards, supported by President Obama, would place limits on industrial carbon pollution from power plants. But the Koch brothers and their billionaire buddies are trying to block these vital new public health safeguards in order to keep dumping unlimited amounts of industrial carbon pollution into our air.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
President Obama & the EPA need you to voice your support for new standards. Enacting these standards would help level the playing field for clean energy, and hold industrial polluters accountable. Show big polluters that their multi-million dollar lobbying campaign can't buy them the right to pollute our air.
The EPA is accepting public comments before deciding whether to close the loopholes that allow companies to pollute the air we breathe.
This is your chance to make your voice heard.

(62,500 posts)and a truly horrible script.
And Barney Fife is a nervous rookie who dies a sad untimely death that reinvigorates Arnold's character to do one last thing before retirement.
*I have no idea what the movie is about, nor have I watched the trailer. this is purely off the top of my head*

(53,661 posts)The rest he did was may have been useless, but bless his heart, he was in over his head. Here:
Schwarzenegger defends climate law, slams Texans
Schwarzenegger, speaking before several hundred people at the Commonwealth Club in Santa Clara, said the proponents of Prop. 23 are attempting to subvert the democratic process using scare tactics. He likened the campaign to a shell game hiding what he said was the real purpose: "self-serving greed."
"They are creating a shell argument that they are doing this to protect jobs," the governor said. "Does anybody really believe they are doing this out of the goodness of their black oil hearts - spending millions and millions of dollars to save jobs?"
Schwarzenegger said AB32, which he signed into law in 2006, will create jobs by allowing California to establish a "green economy" featuring solar energy, hydrogen power, bio-energy and a renewable electricity standard that will provide "the seed money for the world's energy revolution."

I find it interesting the video embedded the anti-Koch ad, calling for people to petition the EPA to support Obama's anti-pollution measures.

(39,308 posts)as a Californian I hated him up until lately. But.. now thinking of him with his Salvadoran housekeeper and Maria and all the crazy Republicans who hated him, he just seems so like you said, over his head. He's baaack doing what he does best. An icon in the biz, his films impacted my career, like it or not I owe Ahnold.. He was so good in Terminator 1 & 2
freshwest
(53,661 posts)Do you mind telling me how he affected your career? Just generally, that is, are you in the industry, anything like that?
I've known some people who were, it's a fascinating business. I had a class where part of it was to go and watch a film being made, and it was a bit disappointing, having been used to seeing the finished product with all the edits, etc.
It was when they were doing shots for Robocop outside a skyscraper, and of course... No sound. Just the equipment and actors in their costumes. And the film crews moving around. The movie magic hadn't been injected yet.

(4,378 posts)When I was working at GM Design Center, before I retired, He came in with a crew to view prototype designs for his movie, "The 6th Day."
We set up a showing of most of out pre prototype vehicles.
The movie execs and Arnold told us what they wanted and we modified different models to suit their needs.
Interesting day.
