He cares.

(31,261 posts)a solid parent. Many current rappers should role model him or EM&EM (another solid parent and success in other areas than rap).

(20,482 posts)You sometimes see people like Snoop...coming from meager means, some decent talent, given/grab a break, and then they RUN with it. They build a business out of it, something way beyond their original talent (in his case rap). They got a real head on their shoulders for business/management/negotiation etc.
Would they have risen to great heights under different/easier circumstances? Become a CEO of some corporation? I dunno...sometimes I think that it is the entire environment that makes a person like him blossom. The difficulty itself becoming the proper fertilizer for that individuals growth.

(45,380 posts)have achieved business success. When I was in college I went to see Magic Johnson speak about his career progression and how he found niches selling products he likes in underserved black communities that established companies didn't even consider to be viable. And how in some cases people bought his products and services because of his basketball career but others had no idea he was behind it, they just liked it. It's good to know your products and customers.

(429 posts)coming from nothing. Their mythos is more intriguing than reality. They met in college.
But great success nonetheless

(31,261 posts)Before you dismiss them meeting in college, think about all the hurdles they had to mount,
No college role models in their family or even community - having someone that came before you and knew what college life is like is a major assist toward success, first timers have to learn all the pitfalls while trying to survive them.
They likely did not have a lot of money. Things like enough food, a good place to live, a chance to relax by attending paid entertainment events take money.

(2,594 posts)Once heard a high ranking MO DNR employee say he believes in "letting the market decide".
An EPA regional director before the election said that most of his folks were voting for Bush because they were sick of doing community outreach (as directed by Clinton) and wanted to get back to cleaning up and enforcing the law (wonder if he notices that didn't really work out).
Finished 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and most of them don't realize that "smaller government and less regulation" means them because they must think they are part of the DOD. At least Zumkumft caught a clue when Trump proposed what would have been a crippling $8 billion cut to the USCG budget.
Others in the USCG work in the pollution response field and listen to Limbaugh. I asked them what he would think of the work they were doing (stunned silence).
Met a lady who worked for ATSDR and later the EPA who had not 1 but 2 pictures of Reagan in her house. Her ex-husband was struggling with alcoholism and she would moan and ask "why aren't there government programs to help people like him".
