Documentary explores why porn has become so rough and degrading:

In 2017 the documentary Pornocracy came out, an overview on the current state of pornography.

Why is porn so rough and degrading nowadays? Again and again we see articles of porn-actresses reporting that they were abused and raped during the shoot or by colleagues. For example, porn-actress August Ames recently committed suicide after shooting a scene that was so extreme that the production-company refuses to release it.

Reason 1:

In 2006, Youporn came about and porn became available for free. The salary of porn-actresses dropped from $3000 per shoot to $600 per shoot. 95% of porn is nowadays available for free due to piracy.

With porn now available for free, the market has become saturated. Porn can be found anywhere, for free, and it's just the click of your mouse away.

As the market has become saturated with porn, pressure increases on porn-producers to attract customers with new and different products. The customer himself has become saturated and jaded and the only way to attract the customer to your business is to offer him pornography that goes farther and farther.

Reason 2:

The porn-industry has become a corporate business. It's a huge and shady international conglomerate that only cares about money. It does not care the least about the well-being of its employees or what kind of content they produce. It's all about the money.

How shady are they? They run their businesses through banks and tax-havens all over the planet and have also been implicated in tax-evasion and money-laundering.

One actress cited an example that she gets her paycheck via a south-african bank. The offices of her production-company are officially in Ireland and the guys who supposedly work there have greek accents and claim to be from Quebec.

5. Nowadays?

It's always been that way. Or, at least since the last 70s, when I did a fairly extensive study of it in connection with violence against women.

7. It sounds like the corporate porn industry is becomming as obsolete as coal, displacing workers.

.

Anyone with a camera and internet access can set up their own channels with their own content.

8. Please do not lump all "porn" into one category worthy of disdain.

There are many facets of adult entertainment that also respects its workers, both in front and behind the camera.
