Fox News Host: 'The Base Didn't Believe' Trump Would Get Mexico to Pay For Wall

by Tamar Auber | Dec 27th, 2018, 6:57 pm 640

During a discussion of President Donald Trump‘s border wall on Fox News’ The Five, Fox News host Tom Shillue suggested that even the president’s base doesn’t really believe that Trump will get Mexico to pay for his wall.

Shillue’s remarks came after one of the panelists noted Trump’s promise was not that taxpayers would pay for the wall, but rather that the people of Mexico would pay for it.

Shillue started by saying that Democrats insisting “well, we’ll wait for Mexico to pay for it,” is a “loser” argument. Then, after he was reminded that Trump did, in fact, say Mexico would pay for the wall, Shillue said this: “It doesn’t matter [that Trump said it]. The base didn’t believe it anyway. They knew he was going to get the money other ways.”

He added that when he does his radio show, “the callers come in and they all say look, we knew he knew he would find other ways to pay for it.”

He then stressed, though, that knowing Mexico paying for it doesn’t change the fact,”they want construction to start on the wall.”

which promises are a "mandate" and which ones no one really believed. It reminds me how they pick and choose from the Bible.

Sounds like the definition of "sweet lemon" thinking.

From the Urban Dictionary:
"It means making the best of an undeniably bad situation, even if it involves complete and utter denial,. . ."

Seems to fit.

to convince them that they never believed it. This is straight out of Huxley/Orwell. “You never really believed that now did you?”

Whoever this shill is is just doing a “some people are saying” bit. Truth is the WH doesn’t think Trump gets re-elected if he doesn’t get the wall in THIS fight. Mr. Art of the Deal backed his own ass into a corner.

It's juvenile delinquency meets politics. It's bullying. It's pointless. And it's destructive to our nation's status and growth.

Good thing that words matter to Dems. And to Robert Mueller, for that matter.

Is really what the Mexican President should tell his people about not paying for the wall.

BTW - The Five is as close as you are going to find to late night cable movie channel soft porn. Seriously just 30 seconds of it and you realize the whole point if the show. Legs, heels, the Fox News standard camera angle juuuust above looking up dresses, and two trucker mud flap profiles.

They believe every lie he makes up, and when shown evidence of the truth, they rationalize.

The exact same sheep who were bleating "Build that wall!" at Trump's interminable pep rallies are the ones who will now claim that they never thought it was going to be a real wall anyway. Show them clips of themselves at their embarrassing worst, and they'll just shrug it off. These are people unplagued by the curse of rational, consistent thoughts and principles.
