I know many here have differing opinions on Comey....

But the way he passionately spoke out today ..unusual in intensity for him. Especially how he called out faux news and noted the fact the potus is calling people "rats" ..telling it all like we know it was ..without a flinch and pure conviction. Calling out the pubs and their endless baseless closed door hearings...same questions asked same answers given (while we face a gov. shutdown)

It was simply amazing ... and even if you hold a grudge against him. I believe he deserves some credit and redemption.

Simply put it made my day.

3. I'll give him credit for today and several yesterdays

But the fact of the matter remains that his actions in late October 2016 were one of the little things that swung the election away from the candidate who got the most votes. Comey's pique with the present iteration of Republicans without acknowledging his own role in putting them where they are is still a problem for me. I'm upset as well with popular media outlets that decry Republican fuckery but who still can't bring themselves to own up to their role in putting the nation through this bullshit.

13. I think what he did was a huge thing and undoubtedly altered the election.

It didn't tip the scales, it overhauled the race.

The same could be said for his July press conference. And his decision to publicly label her "under FBI investigation" to begin with. And his decision to launch an investigation based on what he called "a public referral."

26. I hear you. I was out canvessing for Hillary those last 2 weeks and the letter did make a

noticeable difference. After Comey's letter, there was a tension, a questions, many mentioning the new emails that Comey mentioned. It was so noticeable and so sad---and made me so angry. I wish Comey would acknowledge he was so wrong to do this so close to the election. so wrong. But I do give him credit for today. He deserves a big Thank you for speaking out.

46. He would have to do something pretty major

to make up fpr screwing us out of an actual president. And handing the election to the orange buffoon.

What could he possibly do to atone for it?

I'm pleased that he seems to want to be helpful now.

But I'd like to see something more. At least an acknowledgement for what he did.

11. He was dead right today about Republicans

He was dead wrong then about hurting Hillary.

People are rarely either/or, right/wrong, all good or all bad.

People can be every shade of gray in between.

Comey is one of those. I believe that as he grows older he will understand his role in the 2016 elections. It will change him, and I donít think it will be an easy change.

19. He's honest, but also self serving. My complaint with him is

In the press conference he gave criticizing Clinton, while saying no crime was committed. Then in going public with the reopening of the case 11 days before the election because he believed Clinton was going to win. That shows a political calculus rather than a cop following leads.

Anyone whose vote was influenced by the Hillary email announcement is too irrational or uninformed to vote. The dumbing down of the American people enabled the result.

Comeyís one announcement did not turn the election, and if it did, we have a bunch of dunces.

22. I personally believe that Comey found himself between a monsterous

rock and an impossible hard place.

Imagine that he hadn't said anything and Hillary won. And it turned out that there were a slew of classified emails on the server that they found. And tRump made a huge stink about it, the networks ran with it (because they all love bashing the Clintons). And Congress which would probably have stayed under GOP Control went ballistic, held more and more hearings about everything Clinton and probably ended up impeaching her.

Even if, as it actually turned out, there was nothing on the server, he still would have had Congress howling for his head for not disclosing the server earlier. My personal opinion is that Comey was totally screwed no matter what he did.

YMMV

28. Oh,somewhere in-between the NYPD, Giuliani and his sources within, the Russians and fbi leakers ,

I have no doubt there must a truth to be told or uncovered. I do recall reading the NYPD was putting pressure on the FBI office NYC over the ,scandal thing. here's a link to the daily mail sept. 2016. a refresher.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3801083/NYPD-Special-Victims-Unit-launches-investigation-Anthony-Weiner-DailyMail-com-reveals-line-sexting-relationship-15-year-old-girl.html

Comey did mention a suspected leaker in the NY fbi office's just the other day.Comey defends the integrity of the FBI , the thing of it, there is always a bad apple in every bunch. And Comey, he's not the bad guy.

I think Giuliani was in deep on that ordeal in it's entirety.

33. My opinion on Comey:

Overall, I think he's a honest, straight shooter. He'll make a great witness against Trump.

However, as FBI director, I think he was unable to control a few rogue elements within the organization and that lead to the mess in the run up to the election.

Could he have done a better job handling things? Probably.

Did he seek to actually sabotage Hillary's campaign? I don't think so at all.

If you follow Seth Abramson he's put together some good evidence that Comey's hand was forced against his will by a few rogue folks in the FBI, and it makes sense.

36. Howard Dean said something similar

Howard Dean said he was over his head at the FBI. Comey probably did what he thought was right and made a huge mistake.

He stood up to the Bushies when they went to Ashcroft's ICU bed to try to force Ashcroft to approve something illegal. I don't believe he's the typical, corrupt Republican. In fact, if all Republicans were like him we'd be in pretty good shape.
