2. I don't know about the conspiracy aspect of all this, and would tend to chalk it up to simply

the industry having a huge cash cow to protect. Claiming it's a conspiracy will drive away people who might otherwise be willing to take a look at the rapidly increasing amount of credible research showing health effects of cell phone radiation, etc. Look at who funds the studies. Big difference in results if it's industry-funded or not.

Anyone who challenges the industry will be called a conspiracy theorist. The same thing happened with early challengers of tobacco. It always happens when there is a lot of money to be made in an industry and then people start challenging it as evidence emerges that it is harmful. It happened when voting machines first came out and computer scientists tried to warn how vulnerable they were.
