The sad fact is that 150 years ago, the Irish and German immigrants were desperately poor when they came here. Most had no property or funds when they arrived, and some were even indentured because they couldn't pay the ship's passage. That meant they had to work as servants for 7 years until the debt was paid. In those days new immigrants were treated like the Central Americans are being treated now, with hate, fear and contempt. It's so unfair and un-Christian to hate people because they're hungry and desperate. Many citizens of German/Irish stock (including my family) have been here 5 generations and now most of us are doing fine, some are even doing great. To treat the new immigrants to our land like criminals or worse is just heinous and evil.
