Time for some action! Or are we just going to watch this go down?

It seems pretty obvious that NON-VIOLENT concerted action and mass protest against voter suppression schemes in every state is called for and that it could be a game changer. Not in the name of and to chiefly benefit Obama or any other Democrat, Green, or Martian; but to preserve a vestige of Democracy in America in the face of absolute Fascism. We could remind all of them that - nah - it really IS about us!

What the hell is wrong with Occupy?!? What good is low-scale protest against the Trans-Pacific Partnership when the 99% are deprived of their franchise? Do they not see how the conditions that enable the back-room corporatist state are allowed to exists and such sell-out agreements can come to pass? Maybe if workers had their votes counted their interests could be accounted for. OCCUPY THE FRIGGING VOTE! You have some youth, energy and inclination to get up off your asses and actually do something - why not put that to effect and GALVANIZE and INSPIRE those who need it most. The door is wide open for participatory democracy to be defined for a generation and the stakes could not be higher.

Is there anyone here that has any ideas about how we can get together and make a stand, or are we all simply content to watch a coup in slow motion election after election after election. Maybe I am just as much if not more to blame, I want to make a difference but cant figure out how.

I just see an amazing opportunity here and now - what are we waiting for?

There needs to be a protest in each state where this is happening. The most effective action, I think, would be a general strike. Of course, that's much harder to pull off now, given the extremely weakened state of the labor movement.

what the hell is wrong with you? Occupy is just you, and you, and him, and her, and me. Individuals

Don't blame Occupy. Join it. Start your own. Don't expect it to do your bidding. Involve yourself and move it that way.

Because they are local and involved. That's what you need. Real bodies in real places doing the needed work. DU is great but it isn't local and can't be geographically located and that makes all the difference. Virtual communities like ours have drawbacks, and this is one of them.

On the other hand DU is a perfect place to disseminate information at speeds never before dreamt of and we educate each other, keep each other enlightened and updated on news. It's wonderful in that there are substantive debates with everyone invited to participate no matter what location or country the members are in. It's the perfect place for ideas to be born and to thrive.

DU is where I come for informed discourse and opinions. The MSM can't ever hope to touch it. It has become the place I come to find the truth.

To this day I find it hard to understand why there
isn't more protest against voter suppression.

we can get into these areas where voter id laws have been enacted and help those folks get id's, find out in the areas where extended voting is no longer allowed how these people can get absantee ballots or if it is a transportation issue get them transportation. That is what I am looking for leadership on.
