Trump sat - jacket open, arms crossed, red-faced while the former PM of Canada eviscerated him

by praising HWB for his leadership, saying every head of state in the world knew they were dealing with a true leader and a gentleman - praising HWB for his participation in environmental protections that ensured Canadians and Americans enjoyed beautiful forests, clean waters and air. He also spoke of HWB's selflessness in service to and for his country, rather than self.

79. A forgettable person is someone you will forget

Drumpf does not fit in that category... His actions will go down much like Hitler in their notoriety. His name will become synonymous with hate and negativity. Not to sure Donald will last as a preferred name for several generations.

His buildings will no longer be adorned in garish logos.
No roads or airports or battleships or schools will carry his name.
His damage will be repaired, in time... and no one will remember
a single good thing about the guy. Poof.

47. And I disagree with you.

He's definitely the WORST president we've ever had (those previously considered "the worst" presidents never reached his degree of self-serving malevolence and greed in such a short time. Most were mainly inept or corruptible: Trump is inept, AND both a corrupter and corruptible). His hero, Jackson, may have come close in some ways, but he WAS a military leader and a lawyer with governing experience. Trump has wrecked (or TRIED to) an amazing amount of international mayhem in less than two years. Worse, his obvious ignorance of history and government is less than many C level high school graduates. For the U.S. to have depend on other democratic world leaders to save us, is of little hope due to the damage Trump has thus far inflicted on them.

61. I don't think he will be forgettable at all. I think he will depicted on history pages as

the clown presidency, as a joke. A very bad joke, and very bad mistake by Americans to elect a totally unqualified person to lead America. Historians will write of his lies, his corruption, his ill informed trade decisions, his "wall idiocy", his lawlessness and repeated attempts to circumvent the constitution with illegal executive orders, and his foreign policy of bowing down to dictators and isolating himself from U.S. allies.

As president, historians will regard him as a blithering idiot.

64. I think he will be talked about and in history books much like Hitler.

He will be depicted as the person who tried to destroy America's values, standing and constitution for his own personal profit and to enrich Russia by picking up all the things drumpf fucks up, like getting China's soybean contract worth billions when drumpf jacked up the prices by imposing huge tarriffs and like hurting NATO so Russia could successfully steal back Ukraine (and possibly other former Soviet bloc countries as well). They will ask how Americans could lose their minds and support this obviously criminal traitor and this will be discussed for decades at a minimum.

Let's see...lies, fear, collusion, divisiveness, name calling, and keep going.

That will play well with historians and anyone with a fleck of decency.

Forget about issue questions. I really wish one of these reporters would ask Trump if he has any idea how history will view him. Then don't sit down without rattling off a list similar to my first sentence above.

My reference to President Obama was merely due to the shade thrown at tRump in BHO's presence.

observations with my husband. Made him look!

Sure enough, after the minister finished and the shot was back on the row of Presidents, he noticed how the Obamas, the Clintons, and Jimmy Carter could be seen looking touched and pleasantly contemplative. And there was trump, sitting visibly uncomfortably, with that pout on his face. “Nothing for or about ME! WAAAAAAHHHH!”

Actually, dude, a LOT of this IS about you. And what you AREN’T.

Suck it up, donald. You have nobody to blame but your stupid, selfish, thoughtless, reckless, and greedy self.

This peculiar misinterpretation of what's happening dishonors not just the speakers, not just the man who just died, not just his family and those who knew him as a friend, but our nation and its people. The imaginary twisting of every respectful comment into an upholstery pin being used to attack Trump is not a true picture of how most people think.

It may say something about a malice that's taken over some politically-oriented minds in these anxious times, but nothing about what is in the minds of those who have much bigger and better things to contemplate. And of course those not watching at all, which is most Americans by far.

27. Yes. Unfortunately it's easy to interpret all these positive words about GHWB as

intentional trolling of Trump but they really are not, and it dishonors the occasion to assume they are. The speakers are eulogizing GHWB, not criticizing Trump - but the contrast between the two (actually, between Trump and any normal person) is so striking that it's tempting to interpret the comments as intentionally directed at Trump. But we shouldn't do that. That's letting Trump live rent-free in our heads.

We used to live in villages which through tradition and collective wisdom set limits for acceptable behavior. Now that we're suddenly free of most constraints, we each need to do that for ourselves. Not copy people who imagine a man who cannot must be far worse than those who will not.

President is supposed to be.

I’m no gushing fan of GHWB. He definitely had his faults. But the contrast is literally staggering. And I think we can all use a reminder about how it’s supposed to be. Having a respectable example of at least some dignity in office, rather than the revolting and utterly humiliating slap-in-the-face/punch-in-the-gut indignity that we’re currently suffering through.

32. Hmmm...subtle to me

Probably way too subtle for IQ.

Shrub was subtle too but got some zingers in....treating opposition never with malice. That was my favorite

33. Are his hypocritical evangelicals even watching this dolt during the funeral...??

Can’t join in song or prayer, because it is totally alien to this heathen jackass.

Not a smile or a tear. NO emotion at all. A deplorable, shame-filled and disgusting con artist thug.

52. Fundies wouldn't care much for this funeral.

Too "popish." Episcopalians are liberals and heretics.

46. Trump has poor posture, his shoulders slump forward.

His clothes do not fit well, he is overweight and droopy. He has absolutely no class, no taste and no ability to look dignified.

57. Every one of these older esteemed politician's funerals that he is forced to attend

Or his dirty seed as a stand in, and he has to sit and listen to praises of their lives which are always the opposite of how he leads his life, and now "leads" the country, is so revealing.

He desperately wants that kind of adulation as well, yet he is cursed with an attitude and brain, of an arrogant, spoiled, bratty, mean, 6 year child.

I think he sits through these things envious of all that adulation, and that WHAT they are actually praising them for goes right over his head. Its just the act of adulation that he is interested in. For what, and from who, it doesn't matter. Thus he, being lazy, went for the low hanging fruit, the racists, the woman haters, the evangelicals, those that have been marginalized and ridiculed in society, the ones that were desperate for someone to come out and support them publicly, tell them what they wanted to hear. A crowd's a crowd to him. He's probably also thinking how he's never seen so many losers. And how his funeral will be much better attended. Largest funeral ever.

63. Trump looked like

many of my classmates and myself as we eagerly awaited the end of class so we could scurry to the football stadium for seats. We sat the same way, books closed, crouched forward, not paying attention, just waiting for the words "class dismissed" to be uttered.

69. Why should she? I'm totally fine with that.

I heard someone on CNN say she didn't even look at him. I wouldn't, either.

That's okay. Solemn occasion. Decorum preserved.

70. Trump thinks everything is about him

Brian Mulroney may or may not have been thinking of Trump when he spoke; he was most certainly thinking of GHWB though. The fact that Trump seemed to think it was about him says more about Trump than about Mulroney and his speech.

73. I liked historian Jon Meacham's eulogy when he mentioned a wall, dictators,

and those with disabilities.

"And on his watch, a wall fell in Berlin, a dictator's aggression did not stand, and doors across America opened to those with disabilities".
