Big shakes on the right - Charlie Brown is racist. No really. This is a thing.

I saw this on Facebook. Well that google search took no time.

It has to do with how Franklin is seated alone. Fox News (via the N.Y. post ) cites one critic directly whose twitter post is ridiculed down the line.

'Charlie Brown Thanksgiving' criticized as racist

Critics are slamming ABC’s “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” for seating its only black character, Franklin, alone on one side of the holiday table — in a rickety old lawn chair.

The special, which debuted Nov. 20, 1973, aired again on Wednesday — prompting social media outrage over the gang’s highly unwoke picnic table arrangement.

“Why is Franklin in Charlie Brown Thanksgiving sitting all by himself at the table. Man. Things that I did not notice as a child,” @Asharp52 blasted on Twitter.

Others said good grief over a seating chart that would have thrilled George Wallace.

“Not watching Charlie Brown Thanksgiving anymore, until they sit some people on the same side of the table as Franklin,” another critic tweeted, along with two black power-style fist emojis.

1. I'd prefer the dog not be seated at the table

That is very unsanitary.

3. Actually, at least he's wearing a cap.

You'd prefer Pigpen, maybe?

4. He's not alone. He's next to Pig Pen.

To the right of him is another plate with a napkin and two desserts. On the ground where there should be a chair and a person there are puffs of dust like Pig Pen always has around him. Apparently the cloud of dust has completely overtaken him!

15. I don't see how you came up with that being dust on the ground...

or that seat being designated for Pig Pen. Maybe Pig Pen wasn't even invited. Now THAT'S something we should be concerned about. Pig Pen was probably always dirty because his family was poor so he should have been included in the celebration.

I'm going to not watch this any more until he's included in the dinner party.

17. No. His his mother gave him the choice

of showering for a dinner party or staying home. He chose the latter.

I am familiar with this behavior. I had one child just like this.

But he stopped by to wish them happy holiday. Therefore the faint remnants of dust.

they should all be banned from being shown.

7. I don't think blanket banning is the remedy.

looking back with an eye to history and context and why certain things led the gains, and losses, we have today might be a more educational experience.

since then, where would Linus be? He never goes anywhere without his blanket!

12. In 1973 there were virtually no black characters on TV

and Franklin dates from 1968 and made more than a few southern papers refuse to run that cartoon.

By no means perfect but he was ahead of his time.

18. Ridiculous. Schultz has way ahead of his time protraying an Africian American character without

stereotype. If we assume Linus is at the head of the table, then Franklin is seated at his right, which is the seat of honor.

another cartoonist nailed it today:

Makes this show more inclusive than 99+% of shows from that time

21. JFC! Watch the show. It was meant as a seat of honor

and Franklin's character was modeled on MLK. Charles Schultz is about as racist as Mr. fricking Rogers. That's why he was universally beloved.

Can everyone stop getting offended over stupid shit like this? Bigger problems in the world and this isn't one of them. It's a cartoon from the 70's.

and Linus doesn't get ANY.

Discrimination right in plain sight!

Seriously... exhume the body of Charles Shultz and interrogate the skeleton... we must have answers!
