Alan Dershowitz: Yes, I Am Still Jeffrey Epstein's Lawyer

Lawyer Alan Dershowitz has said that he still represents convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who pleaded guilty to soliciting underage sexual partners whom he initially recruited as masseurs. Dershowitz, 80, told Axios that Epstein “has called me a couple of times about legal issues, because I’m still technically his lawyer,” adding, “I haven’t had any social, or any other kind of contact [but] you never stop being a person’s lawyer.” Dershowitz told Axios that Epstein lent his family his Palm Beach, Florida, house and that he received a “therapeutic massage with an old old Russian” there, but he’d had no idea “anything improper had even taken place in that house.” While he was allegedly raping teenage girls, Epstein cultivated relationships with a global elite: Bill Clinton flew on Epstein’s plane, nicknamed the “Lolita Express,” numerous times; Prince Andrew’s ex-wife borrowed money from him; and Donald Trump praised him as a “terrific guy.”

1. I agree...

… with the notion that everyone has the right to a lawyer… but, I would not be staying at the home of a client - what if he sees evidence of possible criminal activity at the home? … and a massage at the house, from anyone, would be out of the question! Why can't Dershowitz afford a hotel?

5. Yeah, he had no idea

In 2005, the mother of one of Epstein's victims reported him to the police. In 2008 he was convicted. Dershowitz was his lawyer. He couldn't have not known about it. Dershowitz admits to getting his "massage" at Epstein's place in 2015.

So now his defense is he had no idea nothing was going on in the same place Epstein was accused of trafficking underage girls? Who believes this shit?

7. Someone who is below the age of consent can't "willingly" give consent

To suggest otherwise most certainly gives the appearance of trying to mislead about the vocabulary of trafficking and rape.

Dershowitz was and is Epstein's lawyer. Dershowitz knows what rape is and how it's defined. Dershowitz knew girls were being raped. He also knew they were being raped under the veil of providing "massages" to Epstein and his friends.

We already know Dershowitz didn't limit himself to the martinis. He admits receiving a gift of a "massage" from Epstein.

8. Oh, absolutely. The mere intimidation of authority

in men, as only one factor, creates a vast disparity in power. And many of these girls were hurt.

I was really speaking to what has become dysfunctional public vocabulary in rape. We need better information. There are good reasons for vagueness in gray areas, but these days everything from a giggling 14-year-old to a violently injured girl who'll never be able to have children is called rape without differentiation. Or in the other direction, everything from nipple pinching to violent rape is called "assault," diminishing assault cases to a question mark or generating unsupported outrage, depending on the listener rather than on information.

And this matters when portions of the public don't care about differentiation, just want punishment, when others withhold opinion because they believe they lack important information, when political manipulators can be counted on to use ignorance against the people themselves and/or to evade justice as in this case, and when public officials have to please the public to get elected.

And now I'm going to erase my first post because it's been a long time since I read about that case and I should have read up before posting. For instance I didn't remember that Dershowitz admitted to anything but being a guest and seeing nothing, but he willingly associated socially with a person most people of stature would not.
