Ann Coulter: "After this, the country is never going to elect a Republican president again."

Of course she doesn’t care about the idea that Trump supporters could have colluded with Russians to steal the presidency. She cares about “the Wall.” But buried in the bile is a money quote about what keeps people like her and other Trump supporters up at night:

Florida and Texas are about five years away from turning solid blue. Trump was our last chance. After this, the country is never going to elect a Republican president again.

So the next time you watch one of those election night videos, remember: If Trump doesn't keep his immigration promises, Hillary might as well have won.

Trump will leave no legacy whatsoever. Without a wall, he will only be remembered as a small cartoon figure who briefly inflamed and amused the rabble.

federal judges can be impeached and takes 67 senate votes and its possible for democrats to achievethat number in 2022 and then we apply the fact that 2016 was an invalid election and ALL federal judges appointed by trump be removed from office.

50. Distraction maybe...probably, but the wall is also a symbol.

A very important one for the White Supremacists who are Trump's and the GOP's base. They enjoy hearing and seeing Trump demean people of color and denigrate immigrants and refugees from "those" countries. The wall however, is a very important symbol. It is a visible sign of the closing of the Southern border against the brown people. You have to remember that to the base, who are not very intellectual and are highly emotionally activated, the wall is more than just a wall. It is Trump standing up to inferior races and protecting them.

I agree 100% that the real danger is in all the super right wing judges he is appointing but Coulter is talking about the base of the party.

7. Yet during the 2016 presidential campaign, how many on the Left

bought into the Big Lie: that there was no difference between Trump and Clinton so it didn't matter if you even voted or voted for a 3rd party candidate?

Isn't it sad to know and realize that the nightmare of these past 2 years never needed to happen at all?

47. left, center, and right -- false equivalence promoted by tv

It wasn't just those on the left who were duped; the entire spectrum fell victim to the false equivalencies hammered by corporate media, including NYT, but with tv the worst offender.

One report on this, from June, 2016:
https://www.thenation.com/article/how-false-equivalence-is-distorting-the-2016-election-coverage/

Another from August, 2016:

12. There will always be conservatives

... they aren't going away even if we've reached the end of the Republican Party. If conservative rightwingers believe they can no longer get elected democratically, then they'll find a way to do it un-democratically. And I think that's what we've seen them doing in the last 10 years. This really isn't about Trump either, because they will disavow him pretty quickly once he goes down.

but after Bush all but destroyed the country (worst economy since the 1930's, two wars we are still fighting, ruined rep around the world) it took two years for the GOP to get the House back, 6 to get the Senate, and 8 to get the White House. Latinix voters will eventually become more 50/50 voters as the GOP decides to start being decent to them. They aren't all that more liberal on issues than whites.

29. You are right about Florida. Texas, maybe all the cities and big surburbs, not the state.

I looked at the county by county splits in Florida, even in red counties, Gillum, a Black man, ran much better that I expected. I would have thought that his race would have been a heavy lift in heavily White conservative counties.

The urban areas of Florida are expanding, just like California around 15 years ago. If we get more advanced industry to keep educated young people here, the state should be blue in about the time you mentioned.

I believe that DeSantis is going to be an absolute disaster as governor, that should elect a democrat in four year, and after that it is all up for the Democratic Party in Florida. I think that DeSantis will be a Claude Kirk type governor, after Kirk, Florida elected something like 24 years worth of democratic governors until republicans reversed the trend to mostly republican.

Overall though, Texas is trending blue and there's just no stopping it. Even before it does the GOP position is going to become untenable. Every dollar spent keeping Texas red means one less dollar in another state.

There are many more cheats and liars and plain old gullible dumbasses (QAnon for instance) in this country than I ever thought possible.

The plus on our side though is that there are intelligent people over there who care about the planet, hate the lies and embarrassment, who have left and will leave sooner or later. I doubt that most will join the Dem party, but there will be a real split at the GOP.

42. The Republican Party will make adjustments to ensure it can win the White House again.

The more we do to combat voter suppression the more adjustments the Republican Party will need to make to its party platform/policy/rhetoric.

Republicans will be in serious trouble if Florida and Texas become reliably blue states. They can't continue their rightward shift forever. Social evolution and demographics won't allow it.

Republicans will do all they can to divide and conquer the Latino population, and cause division between the Latino population and the African American population. It's important that social movements and the Democratic Party prevent that from happening.

We didn't elect W in 2000 (probably not in 2004, either), and we sure as hell didn't elect the Donald two years ago.

So, while she may be technically correct that we will never ELECT another Republican president again, we will undoubtedly have plenty of them. The machinery is in place, and it works.
