Trump was met at the airport by Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsome

He’s in the presence of great leaders and his superiors. If he decides to spew snark he’ll live to regret it. I dare him to be stupid enough to threaten to withdraw funding. They’ll remind him that revenue from California’s taxes pay the way for his deep red throwback grunting States.

California is the fifth largest economy in the world.

Good leaders do that. But I’m secretly hoping Trump fucks up and gets both men proceed to demolish him.

Gavin, as Mayor of San Francisco, was the one who started the push for gay marriage rights by making it legal in San Francisco. He just announced that the LBGT community could now get married, not just in City Hall, but in church too. It was a truly magical and lovely time to be a Californian.

He flew into Moffett Field, right in the middle of Silicon Valley then they closed Hwy 101 so his motorcade could go up to San Francisco, about 30 miles. During rush hour on a weekday. Hundreds of thousands of people use that road every day. It's the major north/south artery between San Jose and San Francisco, and beyond.

Party shouldn't matter in these circumstances (although we know that hasn't been the case in this administration). The mayor of Chico is a Republican. I'm not sure about the mayor of Paradise as I couldn't find any info on her party affiliation. I'm sure there will be quite a few Trump supporters in this area of California though.

But when it comes right down to it: IT SHOULDN'T MATTER if it's a Republican or Democratic leaning area. We're all Americans.
