Who is Mira Ricardel? First Lady Melania Trump wants the national security official fired

WASHINGTON — Melania Trump's unexpected feud with a national security official exploded Tuesday when the first lady publicly called for the official's firing.

The quarrel between the first lady and deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel apparently began during a trip Trump took to Africa last month. Two officials told USA TODAY that Ricardel argued with Trump's staff over airplane seating for the first lady's trip.

They accused Ricardel, who wound up not going to Africa, of spreading false stories about the incident. The officials said Ricardel had clashed with other staff members as well.

But on Tuesday, more than a month after the trip, the feud became very public when the first lady released a statement saying Ricardel should be fired.

"It is the position of the Office of the First Lady that she (Ricardel) no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House," said a statement from Stephanie Grisham, the first lady's communications director.

Here's a little more about Ricardel, taken from previous USA TODAY reporting, statements from the Trump administration, her resume on LinkedIn and comments she made to Congress during a Senate confirmation hearing.

Ricardel's roots with the Trump administration go back to the president's transition team, before he took office. Over the years, she's served in three administrations and held a variety of roles in different government agencies, including in the Commerce, State and Defense departments.

Her high-profile roles in Washington go back to a stint at the State Department in the 1980s and later as a legislative assistant for Republicans in the Senate. Ricardel also worked on Sen. Bob Dole's failed presidential campaign in 1996.

Mira's parents from Croatia and it was her mother tongue

Obvious rivalry between the 2 countries.

They could have been exchanging "opinions" in their native languages on the trip and no one else in the plane would pick up on the tension

Actually I think that the Croatians and Slovenians get along very well.

This was especially true under Tito when all of the tensions melted away among all the communities in Yugoslavia got along well even among Serbians and Bosnians where you had many marriages between young people of Orthodox and Muslim families.

However after the ending of Yugoslavian there was a rebirth of neo national feeling that didn't develop a deep hatred but did reinforce a chauvinism of each of the countries. The breakup of Czechoslovakia into the Czech Republic and Slavs is an example.

In any case my point wasn't so much that there would be ethnic hatred but that if there was personal tension between the two that they could have been exchanging subtle barbs in their native languages and no one else in the party would be aware of the building tension.

The guy on the street stopped a girl and asked her to tell him if she knew of any good restaurants in the area. He would reward her for this information with a dinner date.

The girl initially did not know, but when she saw that the guy had a luxury Mercedes, her memory suddenly improved. She remembered one place and headed toward the car.

However, when he told her he does not like gold-diggers, she spat in his face and walked away cursing.

His daughter was groomed by none other than Don Rumsfeld, and went on to become his top adviser during the Dubya regime.

So for once, Melania did the right thing - though I doubt it was for any of these reasons.

from her WIKI

In the words of The Washington Post, "She developed a reputation as a Russia hawk and was seen as a tough bureaucratic player with a strong personality". One former colleague later said, "She’s a very tough woman, very smart, does not suffer fools well. And if you happen to be the fool, she will let you know".[2]

Bolton is of course another Russian hawk. I wonder how these two Russian Hawks felt working for Putin lol

Bolton will be increasingly isolated, which is an absolute good.
