I got a terrifying phone call yesterday.

A deep, raspy, grating recorded voice said "This is Callista Gingrich..." I cannot tell you how scary her voice is! For one thing, by the looks of her you wouldn't think she sings basso profundo. If she hadn't self identified, I would have thought she was...well, some "creature from the black lagoon." She was calling, she said, from some conservative group I've never heard from.

But I didn't hold on long enough to know what her subject du jour was. I was too scared.

It is very odd, because I thought the campaigns all had advanced technology so that they know the numbers to call and those not to bother calling. I live in a ward that is 5-6% Republican, strongly Democratic (my husband works at the polls every voting day and sees the numbers coming in). And we live in what I affectionately call "The People's Republic of New Haven" (just to piss off a RW relative).

Maybe they hope they can cause us progressive Democratic seniors to have premature heart attacks and be unable to vote in November...

it was a waste of their time & money to make that call.

I enjoy getting GOP campaign literature as I know it costs them at least something to send it to me. There is labor involved, printing, postage and alike.

It's a good thing!

I really don't know why they bother in all of New Haven, even in the flossy part of town (not MY neighborhood of retired cops and school teachers). Over the border in East Haven (what we call 'staven) is where the Rabids live.

I'm not particularly polite with the calls and often just hang up when I realize it's crap.

You should never answer the phone. Hopefully, you're not a teenager engaged in promiscuous sex, otherwise you're done for.
