Damn Trump. A 92 year old woman (war vet) could make the effort.

Queen Elizabeth Dazzles at Remembrance Service — Here’s Why Prince Philip Wasn’t by Her Side

https://people.com/royals/queen-elizabeth-remembrance-service-why-prince-philip-wasnt-there/

Queen Elizabeth looked chic as ever while she attended a Remembrance Day event with many members of the royal family on Saturday, but eagle-eyed royals fans couldn’t help but notice there was something missing — her husband, Prince Philip.

Wearing a black dress with a grey scarf elegantly wrapped around her outfit, the Queen, 92, went to the Festival of Remembrance Service at Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, an event which was also attended by Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The event, held the day before Remembrance Sunday to commemorate all who have lost their lives in war, holds significant meaning this year, as 2018 marks 100 years since the end of World War I.

1. I'm an anti-royalist, but I won't hesitate to say Elizabeth II is baller.

I would prefer to see the UK ditch the monarchy entirely after she passes though.

Let her goober son be the one the history book remember as being so worthless the nation tossed the whole enterprise in the dustbin. Kind of fitting that he's named Charles.

That said, it isn't my country and they sure as hell don't care what I think...

[I've got no problem per se with his kids or their spouses, but the whole institution is both peculiar and unnecessary in this era]

You keep Trump and your electoral college....

We'll keep the Monarchy and Parliament.

if his parents' longevity is any indication.

A generation of British will spend their formative years with him as the only head of state they know. I shudder to think what effect that will have on the formation of their character, or their intellect. Trump is noxious in the extreme, but he will go. Sooner than later if we can manage it. At least in the US there is more than one head of state for each generation to mark as an exemplar.

I admit I like the tradition and culture in Britain with the Royals. London would't be the same without them. But why such ire for Charles? He's not the greatest guy in the world, maybe, but he has championed environmental causes....

He was warning about damage being done to the environment and the need to conserve long before that became commonplace. He also worked for racial inclusion and actually prodded the royal family in that direction. He would be an excellent King, IMO, but just not of us.

Can anyone point out and defend anyone alive who is as iconic as she is? The only one that comes close, IMO, is the head of Tibetan monks.
