Marsha Blackburn's Gut Reaction to Thousand Oaks Shooting: 'Protect the 2nd Amendment'

Senator-elect Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) made her priorities abundantly clear on Thursday morning when a Fox News anchor asked her for a reaction to the deadly mass shooting at bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

Asked by anchor Sandra Smith what America as a country can do to stop incidents like this one, the first thing Blackburn said was: “What we do is say, how do we make certain that we protect the Second Amendment and protect our citizens.”

The Tennessee Republican went on to say that “mental-health issues need to be addressed” before bringing up the issue of gun access specifically.

“No one wants an individual who is a danger to themselves or others to have a firearm,” Blackburn added. “And what you do want is to make sure they are receiving the help—I mean, this is just absolutely heartbreaking.” From there, Blackburn offered her “thoughts and prayers” to the parents and victims.

3. She is repulsive, and so are all republicans who turn this into a political issue by bringing up

their support of the 2nd Amendment. FFS, this just happened!

4. F***n b***h!!!!

NO!!!! Having a gun will not save lives. When you have a person walk into a place with a shooting planned the action takes far few seconds to start and/or complete than for those being shot at to comprehend what is happening and then actually react. Usually those who do have guns are unable to react in time to save lives and it seems to me most of the shooters kill themselves. Did the "good guy guns" do any good?

5. Ah yes . . .

Yet, every time legislation is proposed to address the problem with all the firearms loose in the country, folks like Blackburn stop it in its tracks. And anything that does make it into law gets repealed.

I have a suggestion for what you can do with your useless thoughts and your meaningless prayers, Marsha.

8. media forgets: Trump Signs Bill Revoking Obama-Era Gun Checks for People With Mental Illnesses

President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun.

The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database.

Had the rule fully taken effect, the Obama administration predicted it would have added about 75,000 names to that database.

President Barack Obama recommended the now-nullified regulation in a 2013 memo following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which left 20 first graders and six others dead. The measure sought to block some people with severe mental health problems from buying guns.

10. "In more backwards countries, people who are worried about crazy people in government

think about voting them out of office, But here in America, the crazy people in government try to keep us from voting and want us to think about guns instead!"

11. For all the budget money that goes to the DoD,

one would think that the American veterans would have access to the greatest mental health care in the world. But that is not at all where that money goes.
