I like her, but someone younger would be OK.
Any thoughts?

(2,678 posts)Nancy Pelosi. I can understand it from pukes, no doubt. But from Dems? Really? Personally I slept much better last night knowing Nancy Pelosi will be our House Speaker. Besides Nancy is from my hometown, and its not San Francisco. 😃

(315 posts)First Pelosi has the leadership and experience that we need right now
Second she is going to be stepping down in 2020 or 2024 so let her be the punching bag that the right will undoubtedly go after. She can take it and has been for some time. When she steps aside the repubs won't have a boogey man anymore. Pull the rug out from under them. They tried to use Hillary as a punching bag the last two years and it finally caught up with people that she isn't in politics anymore.

(11,001 posts)were skeptical and challenged her. Go Nancy!!! If a younger person only has their age to bring to the table, we don't need it. I say let someone become an apprentice and take over after they learned the ropes!

(10,252 posts)She is experienced and effective. She has a spine and will be able to deal with all the stupid mean demonizing tweets that Trump will direct at her. I hope she picks a few younger folks as her lieutenants. Time to start grooming the younger generation.

(7,113 posts)...we need someone who can go toe to toe with Mitch McConnell.
Someone who can work the system and not get played.
Someone who can keep party members in line to get things done.
Love her or hate her, Nancy deserves a good share of the credit for passing ACA and other accomplishments of Obama's first few years.
And Obama would be the first to say so.
That said, she seriously needs to make good on her talk about being a "transitional" speaker and begin mentoring a younger, more diverse set of future party leaders.

(79 posts)If she really meant it when she said Medicare For All should be looked at after Democrats win the House, then yes. Healthcare should be top priority for House dems for the next 2 years.

(37,648 posts)And the ones who challenge the leader end up beaten up.
Check out how Boehner was unseated in the Senate, and others. Look at Paul Ryan. Many Repubs in the House don't want him as Speaker, yet haven't been able to unseat him.
