News from the Heitcamp campaign.

In the absence of recent ND polls, I was glad to get this newsy update from Heidi Heitcamp. I hope she's right about the momentum! I think it's OK to post all of an e-mail that one receives, right? It's mine, now.

Heidi for Senate

Well folks, we’re nearing the finish line. It’s bittersweet to come to the realization that our journey on this campaign together is coming to a close. Over the past few months, we’ve worked tirelessly to earn the support of North Dakotans from Lisbon to Rugby to Washburn and everywhere in between.

Growing up in Mantador, I never dreamed that I’d become a United States Senator. But representing the people of North Dakota in Washington has been the greatest honor of my life – I want nothing more than to continue that work for six more years. That’s why, over the last few days of this campaign, we’re doing everything in our power to make sure we’re celebrating on November 7th.

Bring It Home, Heidi bus
For the past few days, we’ve been calling this bus home as we’ve launched our “Bring It Home, Heidi!” statewide tour. In just five days, we’ll have traveled more than 2,000 miles, visited dozens of communities and personally asked for the votes of thousands of North Dakotans. It’s a lot of hard work – but this is exactly the type of campaigning that North Dakotans have come to appreciate and expect. This trip is an incredible opportunity for me to crisscross the state, reminding voters of all that we’ve accomplished over the past few years and asking for their trust so that we can continue our work with six more years.

The excitement I’m seeing on the ground is tremendous. With every stop, I can feel our momentum building more and more, leading us to another great victory. Keep an eye out, our tour bus may be stopping in your town soon!

packed crowd at our kickoff rally
What better way to kick off our statewide tour than a visit from Vice President Joe Biden? On Thursday, the Vice President and hundreds of supporters and friends officially began our adventure with a kickoff rally at the Fargo Air Museum. As two folks with blue collar roots, I’m so honored to have Vice President Biden’s support on this campaign and was delighted to welcome him to Fargo to talk about what’s at stake in this election.

Cory Booker in Mandan
On top of that, the very next day I was lucky enough to be joined on the campaign trail by my friend and colleague, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker! Cory’s never been to North Dakota before. So, on the second day of our statewide tour, it was my pleasure to bring him to Fort Yates and Dickinson, where he received a warm North Dakota welcome!

Heidi, Kent Conrad and Joe Biden
But most of all, I’ve also been honored to have the backing of some of the greatest leaders in North Dakota’s history. Having the support of my dear friends Senator Conrad, Senator Dorgan and Congressman Pomeroy has been a great reminder of the legacy of North Dakota leadership I need to live up to in Washington. Throughout my time in public service, these men have been wise and supportive mentors – but more importantly, they’ve been my friends. I’m so grateful for their support in these final days.

The story of our campaign
What a wild ride it’s been. I’ve had the opportunity to meet countless North Dakotans with inspirational, heart-touching stories that will stay with me as long as I live. Campaigns are a tough business – but the people you meet along the way make it all worth it. Every single day of this campaign, I’ve been motivated by the new friends I’ve made. I’ve been so fortunate to have you all by my side – I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.

Dickinson rally
It’s hard to believe, but at this very moment, all around North Dakota, there are hundreds of volunteers and organizers working around the clock to send me back to Washington. They’re knocking doors, making phone calls, convincing their friends and family to get to the polls – doing everything in their power to make sure we win on November 6th. I’m so inspired by your dedication and absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we’ve received as we inch closer to Election Day. Without your help along the way, none of this would have been possible. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything you do – it means the world to me.

These past few months have been a whirlwind – it feels like just yesterday we were kicking off parade season as spring turned to summer. But I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to join me on this journey. North Dakotans are a truly tremendous group of people. It has been the honor of my life to represent you in the United States Senate these past few years. Here’s to six more!
