To which I'll add...there is a reason for the existence of the stereotype of the slimy used car salesman. And that is because we actually have a lot of slimy used car salesmen who fit the stereotype. And the reason we have a lot of slimy used car salesmen is because enough people give them business who do not perceive their sliminess. This tells us something about the nature of a segment of the American public that is large enough to keep a host of slimy used car salesmen employed. Enough of this slime-detecton-impaired segment of the American public votes that it can result in people like Cruz being elected to public office. And like Drumpf. And like a host of others these days.
