Tablets are quickly taking over the computer market despite being utterly useless to working people. Apple has reportedly sold the equivalent of an iPad to one of every nine Americans.

“Your next computer is going to be a MacBook Air 11 inch,” I told my friend, a brilliant lawyer who nonetheless has not figured out how to plug in his Apple TV. “It’s powerful, portable and, for an Apple product, reasonably priced.”

“But what do I do with my iPad?” he asked.

You mean that thing you use to check Facebook while you watch TV? What do you do with your iPad? ...............(more)

I use my iPad for everything. I teach and use it hourly to track the progress of my students work, take notes on it and send it to parents via email and Dropbox instantaneously. I have programs that help me to illustrate concepts to the children, and ones that help them to practice concepts. With the wireless keyboard attached I do compose and edit papers and documents. I have taught my husband to keep his work notes and plans on his iPad as well. Just because all that one person wants to do with a tablet is check Facebook doesn't mean we are all that limited.

hundreds of millions of people will be too dumb to remember how to breath without their gadgets, then what? Life should not be so complicated. Using gadgets to simplify complication, quit often only add to it. Sort of like the Peter Principal.
Think smart, and don't get lost in the details. That's what other people are for.
