Wait. What?! One of Nicolle's fellow-journalist guests said there were "constant fistfights"...

...at "all of Trump's campaign rallies" two years ago. She said it was both members of the audience and Trump's political staff/operatives, that she saw Cory Lewandowski "drag a peaceful protester out with his bare hands."

Her name is something Allemany, and she was on the same campaign trail as Katy Tur, sharing the same experiences.

Now here is the thing, and why I am trying to catch my breath: I don't remember anyone actually saying this -- giving this info in these words. My husband is watching with me and when I said WTF is this, I did not know this about the "constant fistfights at all the rallies" -- he agreed with me. I mean, it makes sense, knowing what we know now -- but why did the media not cover that aspect in full at the time?

1. Maybe you just missed it, but I recall lots of coverage about violence at his rallies.

Particularly well covered were the Lewandowski incident, and the fact that Mushroom Penis always heckled the protesters and told his supporters that he would pay their legal fees if they got into trouble confronting a protester.

6. I saw the threats & the ginning up of the violent urges. I saw Katy singled out. But...

...Marylandblue is right: The actual acts of violence were made out to be random and sporadic. That's where my shock is coming from I think: what I saw quite starkly was the potential -- what I was not aware of,was the sheer actuality.

3. I saw it often enough.

I saw one that they went after a reporter. Still, it didn't matter much which blows the mind. Kinda like the Montana man body slamming a reporter. They simply do not suffer the same repercussions the rest of us would.

4. I doubt that Trump will rally in my state of Washington

But if he does I want to see a rally firsthand.

I don't trust any of the coverage.

Not even that breathless Michael Moore-imitating guy on Youtube.

9. We don't want him here, violetpastille.

And our great gov, Jay Inslee, had consistently pushed back on Spanky's plans to: 1) drill offshore, 2) reduce the size of our parks and forests, 3) re-start The Hanford, 4) punish us for legalizing pot, 5) make our drivers licenses useless as ID (for TSA), and 6) use our military bases for incarcerating immigrants and caging their children., etc.

He would NOT get a warm reception here.

7. Because the rallies were . . .

Great TV, with or without fist fighting. Jeff Zucker who know bemoans the Trumpster's attacks on the free press generally and CNN specifically was all too eager to put the Orange One on air, saying:

Donald Trump may be bad for the country but he's Great TV.

The media was complicit in the rise of the Trumpster because he generated $$$. Now, they're eating their words because this criminal is trying to bring the entire country to its knees.

They (and we) are reaping the whirlwind because too many ignored the early signs of the man's clear dysfunction and crass opportunism.

We have a chance to turn this around on November 6th. We dare not fail.

16. When your facility is threatened by a bomb and

your credibility is attacked on a daily basis--fake news, fake news--then you're certainly reaping what you sowed. The media companies have put their own staff in danger (not to mention the country's safety and national security) when they gave the Trumpster a pass for increased advertising revenues.

There's been some very good reporting done since the 2016 election. But the press and media companies allowed the wolves through the door. We're all reaping that whirlwind on a daily basis.

10. Another thing that did not get a lot of coverage

Was trmp's language at these rallies. Some that were not telecast, but were video-taped, revealed him to use foul, vulgar language, including the F-word. Frequently. There were children and young people present at these things. It was disgusting. I'm old enough to remember Eisenhower. No president (or candidate) ever used that kind of crass vocabulary at public gatherings, but the butt-trumpets seemed to revel in it.

And were plentiful during the election cycle. After the first one sent to me by a friend, Google did the rest.

11. I seem to recall a lot of "action" around the periphery

especially, IIRC, an incident where a disabled man in a wheelchair was knocked on the ground.
I may not be remembering that right but I have that memory from somewhere.

I ddin't miss a night..I can count the amount of times they were reported on one hand. Also, media did not show how small his crowds were.

I think the charges were eventually dropped. He beat up a reporter at a campaign rally.

They are the real mob.

But, you're right, the words "constant fistfights" were never mentioned. I guess just enough was reported to rile up his base while still maintaining the veneer of civility.

20. Remember the rally where he goes on a long time while they were removing protesters?

That was the time he talked about the good ol' days when you culd just punch 'em out. He went on at some length, looking off to the side...saying, "That's right...carry 'em out if you have to...."

Then there was the time when video showed protesters being escorted out, when one of the Trumpers reached out and punched one of them. The protester wasn't doing anything but walking out.

23. It certainly wasn't covered in the media as "constant"

There is footage of people being taken out, some being punched, etc... but I don't recall hearing of "constant" fights either. The media seemed very sure to show violence from Trump supporters AND from protesters outside the rallies, attacking Trump supporters.

The media would rather report on conflict that is mutual combat, than one group consistently targeting another, cause you know, then you actually have to do something about it.

"Constant" is questionable, but at least once a week there was someone getting thrown out for protesting and something would erupt.

27. To the ones who posted, both agreeing and disagreeing: thanks. I just got really triggered today...

Mostly it was Steve Schmidt being so very very explicit about the bombs: Attempted assassination of all our top leadership. Worse than the day after Lincoln's assassination. If successful, would be the equivalent of 9-11 happening right now.

By the time Ms Allemany started talking about being at all those rallies on the campaign trail, I could hardly breathe. My reaction -- and my husband's statement that he had not known the extent of the pre-election violence either, based on news reports -- showed up in my OP.

Personally, I believe more bombs are in the mail, still in a sorting station somewhere. I believe they were intended to kill or maim, not just frighten, and that only the maker's lack of practice made them duds.

Someone intended to assassinate our entire top leadership -- they tried to -- and they will try again. With Trump cheering them on.
