I received my fifth call this week from the RI Democratic Party today.

They're very diligent in their effort to get out the vote. As a registered Democrat, of course I don't mind answering their call, but it seems as though they're putting a lot of time into repeat calling. Each time they say they'll make note that I've been contacted.

At least the Repugs haven't been dialing my number. I wouldn't be nearly as pleasant or receptive to answering their call.

I do, however, find it interesting that there is little or no "cross calling" to people in the opposing party in an effort to try to win them over. It's rather like preaching to the choir when Dems call Dems and Repugs call Repugs. Other than as a reminder, there seems to be minimal return in such a call.

I canvass for Joe Donnelly. September was canvassing, which was going to people who are registered Democrats, independents and Republicans who have crossed the aisle for Donnelly before. Once October hit, we transitioned to GOTV, which means targeting JUST Democrats and getting them to the polls.

It's fruitless to try to reach out to the other party, they're never going to go the other way. Focus on getting your base out.

I was never called during the canvassing period, but they're in high gear for the GOTV.

As it happens, I vote by mail, so my ballot has already been cast.

If you live in a blue area and no one there feels the need to call, of course it will make no difference in your immediate area. However, for statewide or national offices, like governor, US Senator or President, your state party is losing out on a lot of Democratic votes if your local party isn't engaging in GOTV.

I don't know what state the poster is in, but NC, for example has only judicial races. I already voted so I won't be getting calls one presumes.

I also live in NC, Goldsboro, Wayne County.

The judicial race for the NC Supreme Court is very important. It would give Dems the majority on the SC through the 2024 and for all reapportionment cases. If we lose the seat Repubs will try to pack the Court with 2 additional Repubs so that they have the majority.

They're a well organized and persistent group, to be sure. Perhaps that's why we're the third bluest state in the national ranking!

We had too many candidates in the primary for governor. The primary winner is weak, has very little support from the leadership and we will lose because of it. I'm probably not getting calls because he doesn't have a lot of volunteers or money. I send my money to congressional candidates in other states.

having so many groups working the phones in order to not miss any Registered Dems. The upside is this,we sure are getting a ton of Volunteers. Wish we had these super charged Volunteer group in 2016. Normally I work with two maybe three at any given time, today our group was twelve for two hours and then we picked up another six.

Talk about super charged.

Everyone is talking about how the GOP is running only attack ads that are about 1% fact and 99% out right lies.

Are you as tired as I am of seeing those buffoons Fung and Flanders? That commercial where Flanders states he will stand up to trump makes me want to vomit.

I don't think that proclaiming themselves as such does them any favors in RI. It's comfortable to be in such a blue state, and does a lot to aid in keeping my blood pressure down!

But, that's politics. They're out there running hard as they probably should be. I've managed to tune them out pretty successfully.

The one that confounds me is Joe Trillo. This isn't his first time up at bat, and he's been a very distant placer in the past. Why he thinks he'll overtake Fung or especially Raimondo is a mystery (and frankly, probably a huge waste of money).

RI STAYS BLUE IN 2018!

I am glad they are calling...I hope they knock on doors, write post cards and call non stop until Nov 6th. We don't lie, steal and cheat to get votes, we work our Dem asses off for them. I am writing over 100 postcards from Tom Steyer and from the ACLU.

You have a representative at each polling place crossing off the names of people as they vote from voter lists with phone numbers on them and marking 2 copies of the voter list. Every so often, starting in the afternoon, someone comes and picks up one of the lists and takes it to a call bank where the voters whose names are not crossed out are called to remind them to vote. I've done it. You call the voter and say, "Jane, you haven't voted yet and we really need your vote. When can you go vote? Do you need a ride?" It really works.
