Prediction: The Mueller hurricane will sweep the Trump presidency off the face of the earth.

In 2020 a new leader will rise and lead America out of this darkness. 2019 will be a very dark year. A year that will go down in history as one of the craziest years ever in our history that will be studied, debated for decades.

You can bet Trump will fight hard and fight dirty.

He's not going to go down easily and will do his best to leave as big a path of destruction in his wake as possible.

My opinion: We have a blossoming Hitler in office and complicit Republican House, Senate, SCOTUS, and judiciary in general. The Republicans also own a solid majority of the state houses and governorships. We witnessed a reactionary coup in 2016. I can see Trump nullifying the election this year, claiming Chinese hacking, preventing a Democratic majority to be seated. These are truly scary times. Restoring our democracy will not be easy.

and the extremist religious right. We should be proud of our enemies. All those groups who mean to destroy government of, by and for the people have to defeat us first.

Saving our democracy could still turn out to be easy for each of us, in that our part is, or was, simply to vote, and perhaps to speak out, but if it goes wrong it may be not be quick. These elections may be stolen, and if they are we will have to endure and fight much longer. And that could require more than showing up for a few minutes every 2 years.

to vote against the psychopath Trump. But the Republican senators are not decent people, and enough of them will reckon they can get re-elected by other deplorables if they ignore the findings (so they'll refuse to convict him, even if a Democratic House majority impeaches him).

2019 will be, as you say, "one of the craziest years ever in our history", as will be 2020, with vote suppression on a scale never before seen. I think the decent people will win in the end, but it'll be a nightmare of a battle. And the deplorables won't go gently after that. Apart from violence from the crazies, the sore losers will continue to try and game the system - using deplorable RW judges they have installed before that.

It is legal for those in the US to place bets at Predictit. I have read betting markets are more accurate than polls. Admiral Poindexter, the honest person who admitted his Iran contra dishonesty when others didn’t, was resurrected in the W Bush administration, a role in the CIA. He proposed a betting market to harvest the collective wisdom of crowds, to improve CIA estimates. But bettiing on things like whether The Prime Minister of country X would be assassinated by June 30 2019 pissed off some people. So they let him go. He was just ahead of his time. 55% seems too low to me. But I would give good odds Predictit is smarter than I am in general.

you will see people here and on the Left throw him under the bus. Unless Trump is forced to resign and is hauled off to prison there will be those on the Left howling and screaming.
I remember Fitzmas, the bragging confidence about how Bush and Cheney were going to be frog-marched to The Hague.

Your characterization of our "High hopes and sky-high expectations" sounds like we are making a mountain out of a mole-hill.

turdface has, in effect, dismantled the very foundation of our country. Even with the best possible outcome, we may never be able to undo the harm.

With the many crimes turdface has committed, he must be held accountable. It must be made crystal clear, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW. We don't need a report. We need indictments.

Releasing a report to the Republican Congress, who will not allow it to be released to the public, and who will do nothing about it, will accomplish absolutely nothing.

We all hope there will be a blue wave, but with the voter suppression, ballots being blocked, we will even know if there was one?

We can not allow this to become another Fitzmas.

turdface is now actively trying to provoke violence. We must be ready.

And if WE are successful, we must expose ALL the instances where the republicans have stole, lied and cheated their way into office.

Although many will get sidetracked into arguing over technical definitions, actively attempting to overthrow our government by illegal means, or preventing the due course of honest and fair elections is treason.

The republicans need to be held accountable for their treason, and punished accordingly.

We don't have to play "dirty" like they do, all we need to do is expose the truth. Their own truth will provide all the dirt that is needed.

And my apologies for insulting all turds.

The latter may just wind up accomplishing the former, but it's the height of foolishness to depend upon - or even expect - such an outcome.

When people start valuing health, nature, stability, and human relationships, I will have hope.

Until then all they want is more of everything, and keep the SUV's and McMansions coming, and that feeds corporate profits which feed portfolios which feed Republicans. It's a closed loop, unless economic equality and a sane tax system supplant it.

Mueller seems not to be a factor in this system.

I've read enough analysis recently to be skeptical of the possibility. Jonathan Turley wrote an op-ed suggesting that Mueller probably won't bring any kind of case about obstruction, and another article I read suggested that his findings may never be made public.

I would love for Mueller to provide a smoking gun for impeachment, but IMO it's looking more doubtful. We really need to take the house this election (at very least - getting the Senate as well would be the best case scenario) to give the Dems some investigative power.

Feeling like my hopes will be dashed.

Maybe out of experience?

Hope I'm dead wrong.

I'm usually not.
