Many "blue collar" workers have put their faith in a liar -- and a moron

Yeah, I know. There are many of people who have profited from the orange disease in the White House.

But most people just don't get it. And I understand why. They work in the industries that built the 20th century. And the tragedy is that those industries have become irrelevant to the 21st century economy. Their jobs have gone away. And human progress has resulted in those jobs not coming back. Yet, Republican pricks "promise" to bring their jobs back. I'ts bullshit. Yet it's bullshit that they'll use to get victims of progress to vote for them.

The industrial revolution had the same effect on the world. The steam engine fucked countless people out of work. Yet, it created many thousands of new jobs.

The Democratic Party knows the transition that's taking place now, and are trying to help people adjust to a new reality. (Many Republicans also know it, but deny it because it doesn't help them get some of their neanderthals get elected.)

Things might have been different had an incredibly ignorant man not ended up in the Oval Office.

But who knows?

Nonetheless, if the world is to move forward, the knuckle dragging in the Republican Party must be recognized for what it is, and must be refuted.

It may take another election or two, but it must come about to break those who are putting up a roadblock to progress..

Oh, yeah. Those people identify themselves as Republicans.

There are many reasons to use them.

I read it as acknowledging that it is a term used to refer to a large group of people, nothing more.

I am aware that there are a lot of people who do not like "white collar" or "blue collar".

The GOP worked to destroy unions because politically they were aligned with the democrats. The unions where how the blue collar workers were influenced to vote democratic. Once removed from that influence, many of them were subject to their worse demons. Guns, misogyny, racism, anti-gay views, these things ran rampant in the blue collar community I worked in 40 years ago. Reagan, et. al. leveraged them to pull that minority away from the democrats.

The GOP now governs from a minority position and are working to ensure they can continue to do that.

Republicans won't be able to convince people that their dying jobs will be coming back once it becomes clear that those jobs are being killed off left and right. Government subsidies do not work to support a dying industry, regardless of the size of the subsidies, each year the net cost of operation when compared to alternatives rise, that trend isn't sustainable.

Today, the pace of change is faster than it has ever been in the history of the world.

Keeping up with new/changing technology is a full time job.

Today's kids that "know it all" will be obsolete in 20 years.

Technological change is inevitable and, to we humans, merciless. There are some who can keep current because they learn quickly and easily. They keep up to date with little effort. Most people don't.

IMO, the government must set up a system, (schools, seminars, on-the-job training, and much more), to help working human beings to keep up to date and financially survive.

If not, we could well see a "war" against technology brought about by those whose knowledge has quickly become to obsolete to grant them lifelong employment.
