What is wrong with this picture...

The Secretary of State flies half across the globe to have a pleasant chat with the folks whose consulate was the site of the butchering of an American journalist. Upon his return, the Secretary is asked about his visit and he declares it a great success because the suspected perpetrators have promised him that they will "conduct an investigation."

Meanwhile, our President tells us that he doesn't want to lose out on the Saudis' blood money.

It couldn't be any clearer, this may not be a constitutional crisis, but it is a moral disaster and a bare faced challenge to every good thing we were, are or hoped we would ever be as a country.

I think that if we let this one by, we've pretty much lost everything.

1. Vote in a Democratic senate majority...

And give trumps enablers the feeling like they’re walking in through the front door of the Saudi consulate in Turkey.

3. Yep, it sends a clear message to the world that the trump admin is open for bribery...

and will even look the other way on murder of a journalist working for an American news organization.

An American news organization bares repeating. That's a clear warning to reporters.

The corruption is blatantly in the face of anyone willing to look.

6. It's not just the Trump admin who is open for bribery. It's also elected

Senators and Congresspeople.

4. It was reported that Smilin Mike

was only at the 'official meeting' with the Royal Murderer for 15 minutes. One wonders why taxpayers needed to pay for that trip, and what else might have been an unofficial reason for it.

7. Long enough to make sure the payoff was deposited. There was no reason to fly

there on the tax payer dime for a 15 minute meeting that could have been done on the phone.

... but how does he pick up the loot on a conference call?

It needs to be investigated as soon as the Dems get control of Congress!

16. I think all he had to do was deliver a message and the money was deposited somewhere.

With the NSA all calls are swept up and collected.

people who know they will get away with it.

5. I think Mike Pompeo is so overwhelmed and drunk with

the power and the glitz and the glamour of the job he has now that it’s thrown him WAAAY off his own previous life-as-we-know-it. He’s Secretary of freakin’ STATE, following the footsteps of historic giants. Secretary of State: what is it - only five heartbeats away from the presidency itself?

And there he is, suddenly one of the biggest of worldly big shots, breathing all that rarified air to which he never dreamed he’d have access. Sitting in those golden chairs in that grand gilded chamber of the crowned heads of Saudi Arabia? Surrounded by almost obscene levels of luxury and pomp ‘n’ circumstance and fawning vassals and deferential high-ranking ministers all genuflecting and scurrying to cater to his every need? Luxuriating in a big private jet that’s more glamorously equipped than even many rich people’s homes are - that takes him AND a big entourage with him to all these exotic, glittering world capitols where he gets to hang out with all these international VIPs, and he doesn’t even have to pay for a ticket OR go through the ignominy of the security pat-down at the airport, much less fly coach! That’s only for “the little people” at whom “her majesty” Leona Helmsley once haughtily sneered.

I bet all Mike Pompeo knows these days is what Dorothy once told Toto: “I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Well, HE certainly isn’t, that’s for damn sure! Getting quite a taste for the coddled, pampered, elitist high life he is, these days. He’s certainly come a long way from what he once was: a simple Congressman (ironically from Kansas) with almost no power or status, whose voice was merely one out of 435. Now you can bet he’s thoroughly enjoying consorting with kings, AND being treated like one! Now THAT’S one helluva Cinderella story, ‘eh?

He’s gonna develop quite a taste for this (if indeed he hasn’t already) that will be mighty hard to step down from when the clock strikes midnight and it all inevitably comes to an end. As the lyrics of that very old oldie said: “how ya gonna keep ‘em down on the farm, after they’ve seen Pa-reee?”

24. Yeah

another unqualified teabagger elevated way beyond his knowledge or competence (punce, I'm lookin' at you).

He has presidential ambitions. His disgusting performance with the saudis should forever disqualify him from elected office. What a disgrace.

9. I repeat this once again.

Someone needs to ask our CIA and NIA if someone told them not to warn the journalist that he was in danger. If Trump or Kushner told them to kill the warning they are accomplices to murder.

10. He knew he was in danger. Didn't he tell his girlfriend that right as he handed

her his cellphone prior to entering?

Was he willing to sacrifice himself in order to expose something far more sinister? He wasn't stupid and was well aware how the Saudi's deal with lawbreakers/people who criticize their rule.

Yes I know no one would willfully walk into a situation to be dismembered so perhaps he underestimated his "punishment".

What they did to our American journalist just makes me vomit. All of this administration should be charged with treason. I will never understand how the Secretary of State could even sit down with these terrorists and be civil and even smile at them!!!

20. Well said. The whole thing is horrifying and the sight of Pompeo schmoozing with the Prince

like they're old college buddies was sickening. Just for a second try to imagine the Republican reaction if Barack Obama had done this and John Kerry had gone to yuck it up with the Saudis. The impeachment vote would have already been taken.
