Was Gingrich's "Romney is a liar" bit a suicide mission against Romney?

We all know Romney is a liar. They know it. We know it. The voters know it. Gingrich might have torpedoed Romney in Iowa and taken himself out as well.

and still has a good shot in SC and FL.

But if Gingrich goes down he isn't going down alone. I think it is as much a warning shot as anything else.
