Trump's FEMA failing again Citizens without water and food for days from Hurricane Michael
"For his part, Governor Scott seems more distant and inattentive than with last year's Hurricane Irma. His answer, "everyone just needs to help each other, right now". Resources seem to be allocated for law enforcement and power, but little else. One might ask, where are those pre-positioned supplies FEMA bragged about. Is FEMA suffering from poor resources given to the agency? And rural areas away from the coast aren't seeing any assistance. From the daily beast article again:
Word about not getting water or meals had not yet reached rural communities inundated by the hurricane’s rains and storm surge. In Gadsden County, outside Tallahassee, where the storm killed four people, county commissioner Anthony Viegbesie said he had not seen a single relief agency. “This is a community that lives on agriculture. Without electricity, the wells don’t work,” he said. “We survive primitively.” " https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/10/14/1804277/-Trump-s-FEMA-failing-again-Citizens-without-water-and-food-for-days-from-Hurricane-Michael

and America is Trump, at least in (what passes for) his mind.
Everybody else is on their own. (Okay, possibly he'll take care of Ivanka.) |

23. thanks for the videos
I wish the first one had shown some close-ups of the houses that survived. Somebody will have to figure out what works and what doesn't. This won't be the last hurricane of that strength.
Extreme weather events will become more commonplace. We failed to take action that might have kept them unusual. Now we face the dual threat -- climate and a global assault on democracy. |

... when the President's own property isn't under water? I mean he can even play golf at his own golf course, so it can't be that bad.

10. Where is the mainstream media on this?
Are they on the ground asking questions? There are a wealth of them to be asked. Has siphoning funds for baby jails caused the slow response? How long until people are helped? How are the enforcers protecting property getting food and water? If the president is holding rallies and golfing, who is in charge here?
Reporters and anchors swarmed New Orleans after Katrina. I know that is a major US city versus a far less populated area, but has the ability of the press to cover an important story decreased this much since Katrina? |

27. Trump transferred $9.8M from FEMA to ICE
That's right. Because locking little kids in cages is much more important than providing food and water to hurricane victims. Hurricane season ain't over either. Trump admin is completely indifferent and incompetent.

30. It's time to start the retreat inland.
It should all be cleaned up and returned to nature as a buffer zone for hurricanes. No building within 10 miles of the shore.
Another 30 years and it will be underwater anyway. |
