What ELSE is going on with Saudi that our media & gov't suddenly notice they're assholes?

I mean the Saudi government not the people who have zero say there.

Not too long ago, they could behead teenagers for mild criticism of the government, wage their genocidal war in Yemen (with our help), and finance and direct terrorists, including those that killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11 and no one in Washington gave a flying fuck.

Something like this murder of a journalist is usually the tip of the iceberg, a way to get the public lined up with a policy shift or even pre-war footing.

What changed behind the scenes?

1. Khashoggi was well known and well respected - kinda like Richard Nixon butchering Walter Cronkite

4. That would only be a problem if the real financial elites wanted it to.

If it was just Trump, nothing would change.

3. I don't know. I notice how Branson and other mega investors are calling this dead

journalist death a bridge too far. Hypocritical much? MBS was in LA back in April and many of them had no problem doing business with him. The people of Yemen are worthless to them, I guess.

MBS may simply be drunk with power and over reached, He is a dumb arrogant ruthless prick in many ways.

Another thing some journalists are pointing out today, WAPO has some of the major lobbyists for the Saudis employed by them. They have written columns on numerous occasions. Those folks have been silent on the journalists death.

5. to be super cynical, maybe this is a way for them to appear to be tough on Saudi

while it's business as usual behind the scenes.

6. I am hoping good will triumph in some way. The war machine is never ending too.

Representatives from companies like Raytheon and Lockheed Martin argue that to keep jobs at plants that mushroomed across the U.S. amid post-9/11 wars, Congress must almost never use its veto over arms deals. “Because we are in a permanent state of warfare, we have a war-based economy,” said Elizabeth Beavers, an organizer with the progressive group Indivisible.

Arms manufacturers have already told Trump aides they are worried about Capitol Hill blocking more sales over Khashoggi, Reuters reported Friday. That would add to the deals already held up over a Saudi military campaign in Yemen that’s been accused of dozens of war crimes.

7. Branson is the Canary in the Coal Mine.

He was the first to say something against the Saudi's. Watch for media attacks against Branson's Finical Holdings. Virgin Atlantic Airlines,Hard Rock Casino Las Vegas(which is in the process of renaming),and his UK Bank Holdings.

Will be watching the Guardian and London Times as well as Bloomberg Overnight Eourpe, the usual spots for Political and Financial hints for things to come.

8. Don't get me wrong I am glad he did but I would have respect for him if the war on Yemen

was the bridge too far for him to do business with MBS.

That said, I agree with you about the attacks to unfold.

9. Wonder if Branson

had a come to moment this past week. Sure hope so. Again his financial interests with the Saudi's are a image killer and he appears to be someone who strokes his image.

10. Same here. As upset as it gets me to see they were fine and dandy with MBS before?

I am grateful for any change away from it, so good on him.

13. I'm still profoundly suspicious since 9/11 wasn't a bridge too far all these players

Even before the 28 pages were released, there was enough in the public record to support a substantial role for the Saudi government.
