Gallup: Reaction to Ryan as VP Pick Among Least Positive Historically

Earlier, the USA Today article compared on the basis of "only fair/poor." Looking at the "excellent/pretty good," Palin's number is 7 points higher and Quayle's 5 points higher than Ryan's.

Interesting & good. But I don't know if it's important. Look how "excellent" Edwards & Lieberman Honeycombe8 Aug 2012 #2

The best you can hope for from your running mate is someone who's competent and doesn't step in it too much. Edwards & Lieberman did neither and while they didn't boost the ticket in the end, they didn't cost the ticket like Palin might have cost McCain in the long run.

Let's hope he lives up to the scorn in which we hold him. You could say that he's got no place to go but up, being as the 39% who like him are solid GOP'ers who would never diss him.

the poll data linked to at the end of the piece, shows Ryan's "poor" at 18 points, the same as Palin's. It does not break out the numbers for Quayle.

He was so far down my list that I didn't think Rmoney would dare go there. I was still holding out that Suzanna Martinez would get a nod before Ryan - and she was like 10th.
