Earlier, the USA Today article compared on the basis of "only fair/poor." Looking at the "excellent/pretty good," Palin's number is 7 points higher and Quayle's 5 points higher than Ryan's.

(34,857 posts)The best you can hope for from your running mate is someone who's competent and doesn't step in it too much. Edwards & Lieberman did neither and while they didn't boost the ticket in the end, they didn't cost the ticket like Palin might have cost McCain in the long run.

(25,183 posts)Let's hope he lives up to the scorn in which we hold him. You could say that he's got no place to go but up, being as the 39% who like him are solid GOP'ers who would never diss him.
