This was a defeat - but not a permanent one.

By no means was it a permanent one.

Take the House in 2018 and play hardball, and we freeze the Trump presidency in its tracks. Take the Senate and Presidency in 2020, and we can start to reverse the damage done during the Trump presidency. Keep the Senate and Presidency through 2028, and we will most likely be able to replace Thomas, Ginsburg, and Breyer. If that happens, we retake a 5-4 majority. Alito will be 70 in 2020. Keep the Senate and Presidency to 2018 and we might replace him, too.

10 years of sustained effort, and we can completely turn this around. No reason to give up hope. This is the time to dig in. Demographics are changing in our favor. Millenials are less racist, less sexist, and less religious. Dig in, fight, and always remember how today feels when you're in the voting booth.
