1. Senate Procedures

The investigation is not by law or in accordance with any law. It's a procedure of the senate. In essence, they senate told Trump..."we can not advise and consent"...without the additional information..

2. Although I might be crazy, I'm going to trust the FBI to perform a professional investigation,

rather than thinking about a thousand reasons itís part of a conspiracy. If it turns out the final report is clearly a whitewash, thatíll be a different situation.

3. They aren't investigating anything criminal

They are simply taking statements and following any leads within the scope of the investigation. They don't draw any conclusions or refer anything to prosecutors, it's a background investigation that is turned over to the White House who then will pass statements to the Senate.

4. right now, this is not a criminal investigation

it is only a background check.

Can't be obstruction of justice.

Now, if in the process the FBI uncovers a federal crime which might still be charged... then any attempt to limit the investigation might well be obstruction of justice.

5. Thanks to all! I guess in my way of thinking i thought if Rump was telling the FBI

WHAT to investigate, it would be obstruction. Guess we will see what they find!

6. wellll, I'd guess because there isn't--as yet--a criminal investigation going on

but a corruption of the "rule of law"? Definitely.
