question everything

I have two questions

If this will survive the jury..

First, on Bill Maher one of the guests, and I've read someplace else, too, said that one of the senators - was not sure, thought Gillibarnd, Hirono - said that Kavanaugh will have to prove his innocence. I hope this is not true. In this country we still consider people innocent until proven guilty. At least most of the time.

Second: Feinstein had the letter since July, why did she wait until the last minute? And, what would she have done had Dr. Ford not decided to speak up?

I just think that it is important, for us, to clear whatever hurdles there are that will distract from the main issue.

The principle that one is innocent until proven guilty applies to criminal trials, and this isn't one. This is a guy who wants a job. If you want a job it's up to you to prove you are qualified and fit for it. The innocent til proven guilty argument is another GOP talking point and it doesn't apply.

Also, the reason Feinstein didn't speak up sooner is because Dr. Ford asked her not to.

to put the brakes on this nomination until a thorough investigation can take place. To have a vote now without an investigation would be the height of irresponsible governance.

But as for the second - Dr. Ford did not want to go public and Senator Feinstein was respecting that. It was republican staffers on the Senate Judiciary Committee who leaked Dr. Ford's name to the press. At that point, she decided that SHE should be the one to tell her story. Feinstein was not the first or only person familiar with Dr. Ford's letter, that would be Congresswoman Anna Eschoo. And both woman HAD spoken to Grassley about the information. How do you think he was able to come up with that list of 65 women who supported Kavanaugh within 24 hours of the story breaking ?

this isn't a criminal trial (not yet, anyway) where the prosecution has to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. It's a man aspiring to a lifetime appointment as one of the most important players in the history of this nation. You don't get a gig like that without proving you have the knowledge, the intelligence, and the character to handle that kind of power and responsibility.

So yes, I would require anyone wanting to fill a role like that to prove to me, as an American citizen, that they're worthy of the honor.

No doubt, Dr. Ford wasn’t in a big rush to be harassed & receive death threats. Who could blame her? She has a right to privacy
