Conservative republican not worried about Kavanaugh rape accusation. Calls it a 'little hiccup'

Update: WHAT?

In a statement released to USA Today on Thursday after this story was published, Heller said the comments were a reference to how Democrats were handling the process.

“No, I do not believe sexual assault allegations of any kind are a hiccup...(goes on to blame democrats, blah, blah, blah, as somehow relevant to his hiccup gaffe).

GOP senator shrugs off accusation against Kavanaugh as ‘little hiccup’

Sen. Dean Heller, one of the nation's most vulnerable incumbents, made light of attempted rape allegations.

Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) blithely dismissed credible claims of sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as “a little hiccup” on a recent VIP conference call.

Heller insisted, without ever hearing from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, that Kavanaugh will be confirmed by the Republican-led Senate.

Ford claims Kavanaugh held her down, groped her, and tried to rip off her bathing suit at a high school party.

“We got a little hiccup here with the Kavanaugh nomination,” is how Heller described attempted rape, according to the Nevada Independent. Heller continued, “we’ll get through this and we’ll get off to the races.”

Dismissing the assault of a high school girl as a “hiccup” is in line with Heller’s embrace of Trump, and a dismissal of sexual assault survivors everywhere. - Shareblue

I live in Vegas and the race is already close. Wonder how Heller's remark will resonate with women here?

Heller's voting record is comparable to McCain's, and he's been less conservative than Flake. But Heller wants to stay in office, so he's full-on Trumpy now.

Rosen is up by 1-2 points in the latest polling.
