A raft of new polls show that some of the most hard-core Trumpsters are starting to get a clue, nonfiction author Timothy Eagen wrote in a New York Times op-ed published Friday, adding that the revelation is akin to discovering that climate change is not a hoax when your town is under water, and all your commander in chief can do is throw you a roll of paper towels.
----------
The proof, Eagen noted, is in the polls.
He noted that according to a Quinnipiac poll released this week, a plurality of non-college-educated whites wish Congress would rein Trump in. Hes also down 14 points among the poorly educated per a CNN poll, the writer noted.

(3,495 posts)As long as he makes "dem librals" mad they will still like him. I swear half of Trump's support is from people who enjoy watching others suffer as much as they have perceived themselves during their "miserable" lives.

(31,261 posts)The elites that they so despise have seen their home prices and wages increase well since the pits of 2008. The deplorables? Nada on both accounts, in fact, employment for them has remained flat, even dipping under Trump. Save the liberals in those places, screw all the rest of them.

(3 posts)The name of that movie was Lonesome Dove Andy Griffith played a magnificent performance. I remember thinking once how Donald Trump reminded me of that character

(5,810 posts)Andy Griffith did an amazing job playing the wildly out of control Lonesome Rhodes. It is hard not to think of tRump when you watch this movie. He is such a despicable character and it has a sad, but predictable ending where he gets exactly what is coming to him.
I think if Omarosa was able to secretly record meetings, etc that it is likely that she or someone else has caught tRump in some epic meltdowns. Who knows? Omarosa may be saving some of her best material for later? Will tRump have his Lonesome Rhodes moment? Stay tuned.

(5,914 posts)Andy Griffith played a character named Lonesome Rhodes.
It should be required viewing by everyone on DU. It predicted Donald Trump 60 years ago.
Lonesome Dove was a best-selling Western novel written by Larry McMurtry.

(11,885 posts)That people who supports him, he really hates them too. He doesn't like anyone except himself, and those that believe his propaganda will learn that also. HE's not loyal to this country or the American people, only putin, and corruption to profit from. Supporters are running from him now. Many more will too .

Hard to believe he's dropped 14 points among any one group given his overall approval rating has been so steady. It implies he's gained ground among other groups.

His base is getting hammered economically, falling farther behind the big urban/Surburban/coastal elites that they so envy. Bout time that they start getting a clue.
