MI-GOV: Cook Political moves race to LEAN DEONCRAT

MICHIGAN (R Ė Open) Toss Up → Lean Democrat: Republicans should be an even-money bet to hold this seat, but the combination of Trumpís sagging job ratings and some intraparty discord have turned this into an uphill battle for Republican Attorney General Bill Schuette. National Republicans are spending money here, but Schuette doesnít seem to be getting any real traction, and is on the defensive on issues like health care. Democrats contend that voters like former state House Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer and are receptive to her message of fixing the stateís infrastructure. Strategists for both parties say that Whitmer is ahead; Democrats have her with a lead in the mid teens. Itís hard to see how Schuette turns this around in just a few weeks. The question is how long national Republicans keep putting money into the race.

1. She's been up double digits in all polling, and didn't the RNC just pull its funding?

She's going to walk to victory here.

2. Only calling it "lean" is an insult to Whitmer

None of the polls have been particularly close.

3. That's good news.

I hope it's a landslide and the Democrats take a majority in the state house. In the senate, it looks like the Republicans have a supermajority, so I imagine that Democrats taking a majority would be a much steeper climb, if not impossible given which seats are up for election in November.

4. Go Gretchen!!!

Can't wait to see Schuette take a dive. He's spent the last year trying to distance himself from Snyder, who poisoned people in Flint.
