Republican Justices continue to erode SCOTUS ethics and tarnish its reputation.
The long established notion that justices should recuse themselves from cases where they have conflicts of interests has been repeatedly dis regarded. "Fat Tony" Scalia saw no problem with sharing a duck blind with"Shooter" Cheney while the Bush administration had cases pending before him. And, Thomas has declined to recuse from all manner of cases involving a choice between liberal or conservative ideologies while his wife actively supported the Tea Party and spoke at their rallies.
And, now, the whole concept of sworn testimony is about to be seriously eroded by the appointment of a serial perjurer to the highest court in the land. Why even require an oath? If it means nothing to Kavanaugh---or the entire GOP contingent in the Senate---why should anyone else pretend that it has any function in a judiciary polluted by the Trump regime's atmosphere of "truth isn't truth" and "alternative facts".
We used to have three branches of government. Like a three-legged stool, our system's stability is compromised when any leg is weakened or diminished. Trump has---with Putin's help, I suspect---co-opted Congress by "buffaloing" it's Republican eunuchs. And, now, he is taking an axe to the judicial leg of the stool.
There are a few things I would not be willing to do to stop this---but not too damn many! If things go as badly as I think they could,I want my grandchildren to know I did not "go quietly".
