My granddaughter got to hear Obama speak today.

She teaches French to first year students in exchange for her Master's Degree tuition at the University of Illinois. She said so many people wanted tickets that they held a lottery and she bought a ticket and was lucky enough to win one. She said that she has always loved to listen to him speak but it is even more awesome when you are there live and people were so raptly listening that his voice was the only thing you heard.

Lordy how I miss him. I miss his smile, his sense of humor, his genuine goodness, his sense of rightness and fairness, his intelligence and most of all, viewing what he was replaced with, his sanity.

At 75, I remember a lot of presidents. I remember and respected Congress people on both sides of the aisle. There was a time when you could respect a Republican even if you disagreed with him/her. Now there are only greedy, power hungry bigots or bizarre twits like Gohmert. The few that still retain a degree of sanity are throwing in the towel. Since they are quitting anyway, they need to grow a pair and vote to save this country from the likes of Kavanaugh. What would it hurt since they are quitting anyway?

2. Super for her

the entire speech is on C-Span for anyone interested. My wife and I watched it just about an hour ago. Well worth the hour and 1/4 to do.

4. i have had the pleasure several times. it is def worth the effort

if you ever get the chance.
i saw him back when he was running for the senate, and got to meet him. made several road trips in '08 to rallies where he spoke, and a couple here in chi.
he is so genuine. loves people.
so very happy to be a homey.

5. I think one of his greatest qualities is he does not view himself above anyone and treats

everyone with the same warm respect except for a very few.
Putin comes to mind. He is respectful but only as much as manners require. It lacks the warmth he has for everyone else.
