McCain's not even buried yet and GOP is gunning to repeal ACA

Here they go again. Once more, Senate Republicans are trying to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. This renewed assault is a shameful exploitation of Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) death. While praising his character, commitment to duty and faithfulness to the rules of democratic governance in public, privately Republicans are using the same tricks McCain rejected as inconsistent with regular order and deliberative democracy to ram through a wildly unpopular repeal of the ACA.

Senate Republicans’ new attempts to defund a system that has lowered healthcare costs and expanded coverage for millions of Americans is bad policy, bad politics and an undemocratic assault on representative government.
--------------
This latest attack on the ACA reveals Republicans’ complete lack of democratic values. Barely a year ago, an elected Congress rejected two attempts to repeal the ACA. Now, Senate leaders want to try again, after McCain’s swing vote is replaced by an unelected, caretaker Senator. This is a total subversion of the democratic process. The American people have spoken and they do not want repeal.

1. Sure, they may try, but can Senate Republicans pull this off?

I see Republicans in both Houses concentrating on campaigning until November, not legislating. First, destroying ACA is not effective in garnering the votes of Independents and wayward Democrats. Second, unless Russia has its tentacles in every voting machine or computer program, the prospective Blue Wave threat would influence Republicans do nothing that would encourage even more democratic voters to turn out. Third, assuming the Blue Wave does happen, that makes Republicans lame ducks after November 6.

3. I doubt many Republican senators are overly upset about McCain's passing.

I would imagine he was often their conscience and made them nervous. Kinda like having your mother sitting in the corner of your classroom.

I'm sure McCain probably cut his own corners to get something passed, but with this group of Republicans that are playing dirty beyond belief, he probably reprimanded them and reminded them they were sitting in the senate and should not be acting that way.

Are there any old senators/reps who still carry a strong sense of patriotism and accountability left? I can think of a few who have been in office a few years who maintain a sense of decorum and tend to protect our country, but I'm referring to the "old school" members...those who can still break a tear when the flag passes by...those who actually know the words to the National Anthem (unlike our "leader". I want senators who will make me feel safe...that are standing guard.

5. Evidence?

Where is the evidence for this claim in the article?

Now, Senate leaders want to try again, after McCain’s swing vote is replaced by an unelected, caretaker Senator

6. Amazing

that they would concentrate on total repeal without any kind of plan to replace it. Why don't Republicans want people to have health insurance? Despicable.

7. Democrats MUST retake the House in November. Failure is catastrophic.
