A way-too-early look at which 2020 Democratic contenders are overrated

It’s obviously way too early for anyone to have a realistic sense of who is going to prevail in Democrats’ large field of 2020 presidential candidates, but it’s never too early to start breathless speculation about at least parts of it.
-------------
What the bettors say — and what we think is correct — is that at the moment, there is no overwhelming frontrunner, just a broad field of plausible contenders with a real chance of winning. Given that reality, we’re not going to try to guess the final outcome (at least not yet),

Interesting read. Worth clicking on the link to read the entire article. I know it is far to early to speculate - does not mean it is not fun though!

Seriously, Sanders is turning 77 in just over a week and would be 79 in November 2020 to begin what hopefully would be 8 years in a killer job. Most people dramatically decline physically, and often mentally, in their 80s. Not going to happen.

Joe Biden is only a year behind. Not going to happen. Conceivably could be a warm-fuzzies Uncle Joe VP, honorably retiring in 2024 if needed.

8. Lol to the list. And of course no leader's stepping out

from among the real possibilities watching from the wings yet.

We're in the middle of the 2018 midterms. Not going to happen now. Silly stuff.

AND Trump is busily self- and GOP-destructing.

AND the GOP desperately needs distraction from what it's doing itself, and we won't give it.

AND, none of our serious candidates would be so stupid as to offer him or herself up as a lone red meat target for the right wing to mass-attack and launch fake scandals for.

AND, just as big, it'd also give all the press too much time to get tired of him or her and eager to pump up newcomers later on. And with them, voters. That dynamic was a huge advantage for Sanders in 2016 -- the press always pumps up the "exciting" newcomer and trashes the one they've already written about many times before.

AND, no doubt there're more "ands."

Btw, where's the name of that Camelot WASP who got some DUers swooning some months ago? He said he'd consider running in 2020 if Oprah asked him to be her running mate. That's not a rule-out. Ooohhh, New Joe!
