President Trumps disapproval rating has hit a high point of 60 percent, according to a new Washington Post/ABC News poll that also finds that clear majorities of Americans support the special counsels Russia investigation and say the president should not fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
At the dawn of the fall campaign sprint to the midterm elections, which will determine whether Democrats retake control of Congress, the poll finds a majority of the public has turned against Trump and is on guard against his efforts to influence the Justice Department and special counsel Robert S. Mueller IIIs wide-ranging probe.
Nearly half of Americans, 49 percent, say Congress should begin impeachment proceedings that could lead to Trump being removed from office, while 46 percent say Congress should not.

And a narrow majority 53 percent say they think Trump has tried to interfere with Muellers investigation in a way that amounts to obstruction of justice; 35 percent say they do not think the president has tried to interfere.

(26,060 posts)It must be killing him that every time he turns on the tv (not trump tv) and sees the attention Sen McCain is getting. He KNOWS he'll never get those kinds of accolades - nobody is EVER going to call him a hero.

(128,741 posts)it is more because if he got removed from the AG slot, the new person would immediately fire Rosenstein unless Rosenstein fired Mueller... I doubt any respectable liberal/progressive actually supports Sessions at all, but only respects that he has (so far) served as a firewall for the Special Prosecutor and hasn't directly interfered with Mueller (yet).

(24,653 posts)He was thrilled to be able to tell them a middle-class white guy registered Republican voted for Hillary and hates Trump. LOL!
He's registered Republican so we get their direct mail and push calls to see what they are up to...and in our area the Republican primaries often decide office holders. We're in a closed primary system, so he likes to be able to vote for as moderate a Republican as possible against some of the real right wingers the local party can dredge up.
