MSNBCs Chuck Todd thinks all signs point to special counsel Robert Mueller making major moves on Friday.
President Donald Trump on Thursday called the inquiry into Russian meddling an illegal investigation.
This is the president feeling like theres a lot happening around him, the walls may be closing in on him, and I think hes lashing out, said Bloombergs Sahil Kapur on MSNBCs MTP Daily.
Republican strategist Brad Todd, however, said Mueller has a responsibility to know when hes gone past the time limit of when he has credibility with the public.

Team Trump Is Prepping a Robert Mueller Counter-Report

President Donald Trumps legal team is crafting a counter-report that will seek to delegitimize Special Counsel Robert Muellers investigation into Russian election meddling and present countervailing arguments.
Trumps personal attorney, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, told The Daily Beast in an interview on Thursday that part of his report would examine whether the initiation of the investigation was
legitimate or not.
According to Giuliani, the bulk of the report will be divided into two sections. One section will seek to question the legitimacy of the Mueller probe generally by alleging possible conflicts of interest by federal law enforcement authorities. The other section will respond to more substantive allegations of Trump campaign collusion with Russian government agents to sway the 2016 election, and obstruction of justice allegations stemming from, among other things, the presidents firing of former FBI director James Comey.
Though this latter section will focus on the meat of Muellers investigation, Giuliani acknowledged that he doesnt actually know what Muellers findings will look like, making the act of putting a counter-report together a bit more challenging.

We cannot let them change the subject! That's what they are trying to do.

On the other hand, he may feel that he's fulfilling a final wish of McCain's by indicting the IQ45 kkKlan.

(29,322 posts)Sam Patten, an associate of Paul Manafort and Cambridge Analytica, struck a plea deal.
By Andrew Prokop on August 31, 2018 2:07 pm
The Mueller investigation has resulted in yet another plea deal. Sam Patten, a Republican lobbyist, pleaded guilty Friday to violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act in his unregistered work for a Ukrainian politician and a Ukrainian oligarch and agreed to cooperate with the government.
Patten was charged by the US attorneys office for the District of Columbia. But Muellers team referred the investigation there and Pattens plea agreement specifically says he must cooperate with the special counsels office. Andrew Weissmann, an attorney on Muellers team, attended Pattens hearing Friday.
There are several similarities between Pattens work and the unregistered Ukrainian lobbying allegations against Paul Manafort. Like Manafort, Patten worked for Ukraines pro-Russian political faction. Like Manafort, his payments went through offshore accounts in Cyprus.
Also like Manafort, Patten worked closely with Konstantin Kilimnik, a Russian national who Mueller claims is tied to Russian intelligence services. (Mueller indicted Kilimnik alongside Manafort this year for attempted witness tampering, but he is overseas and has not been arrested.)

Todd was probably guessing but this is sorta big news.
