What set McCain

aside from GOP was that he didn't insist that we all have to be white, Christian, heterosexual, native born, or male to be an American. You need to be human and share decency, respect, and share a love of freedom, equality, justice. These are values we should all embrace. They exist beyond politics.

but did he really *accept* Obama as POTUS? AFAIK he was actively involved in obstructing him in the Senate along with the rest of them. He even almost helped block/delayed the vote on the repeal of DADT in 2010. Just not buying all of the fawning of the guy. Yes, he was probably better than most Republicans, at least in spirit and rhetoric but he mostly stuck with the party line and McConnell and didn't seem very "Mavericky" to me in most situations.
