Let me start by saying that I realize this may be difficult to do, possibly impossible considering we are so close to the election, but I've got to give it a try and pray that someone reading this might be able to help...
There is a family here in Sacramento who could use a string of happy moments. I desperately want this family to get the chance to meet the President. Tall order, I know. But why not at least try?
This story revolves around a woman I use to work with a few years back, her name is Linda. In Aug 2010, Linda was diagnosed with triple negative inflammatory breast cancer. Her treatment started with 6 rounds TAC chemo, bilateral mastectomy, and twice daily radiation treatments. She was in remission and out of treatment for about 4 months when she had a local recurrence. Further testing found mets to lymph nodes between her lungs and now also now have mets to her brain.
Linda is fighting this with everything that she has, but as you can tell this is a very, very difficult battle to win.
I cannot stop thinking about her, about her family. She has two beautiful children, one is ten the other is thirteen (I think) and a great husband who is having a very hard time with this. She is his world.
I would like nothing more than to help lift this family up right now. Linda is a supporter of the President and I cannot help but think of how similar this story is to his own. Truth be told Linda even looks like the Presidents mother, while her husband looks like the President. They are the American dream.
I just thought that them getting the chance to meet the President would be something truly memorable that they could carry with them when the waters become even more difficult to navigate. Something that would be everlasting for her children and her husband.
If anyone has any advice, contacts or ideas, I can promise you that this family, who is very much in need of a miracle, would be ever so grateful!

(53,661 posts)I don't expect to win but it's two seats and have said I will give the tickets away to someone who can go if I get the tickets. Lot of IFs in that sentence but that's all I can do personally. Please call or drop by and tell them how it might help her get through this if she had the chance to meet him. I'm glad she has health care and wish her all the best.

(50,130 posts)....and a note asking for this wish for her? If a thousand or two thousand DUers were willing to just donate a dollar, some notice might be taken. You would have to get Skinner's permission I guess.
Oh wait. This kind of fundraising works better if the amount is odd and recognizable. Like $1.01. That way the recipient can tabulate these donations.
