Al Franken today on Facebook

It wasn’t that long ago that nearly every Trump tweet included a NO COLLUSION! But those have become few and far between since Giuliani came up with “collusion isn’t a crime.” The thing is, collusion IS a crime, if you collude with somebody to break a law. That’s called “conspiracy.” You can’t get out of a crime by finding a synonym. “I am not guilty of murdering the victim. I merely killed her! And there’s no such thing as first degree killing!!!” If that were the case, all any criminal defense lawyer would need is a thesaurus. “My client didn’t steal the iPhone. He pilfered it. I demand that he be released forthwith!” This is the kind of insult to everyone’s intelligence that Trump specializes in.

Oh, that's right, he was caught performing a satire of groping when he was hired as a comedian... We can't let satire compete with other forms of political commentary. The arts need to stay in their place.

Reading his posting I am struck with the ease and simple eloquence of his explanation of a legal tactic and why it is bogus. He is an artist with words. It is communication. One other person immediately comes to mind, who channels his passion into effective communication is Steve Schmidt

I'm personally ashamed of how the man was treated. He was a star before he came to serve the people. LOADED w dough, but, he came and he served bc he had more to give America. He answered the call once. And we let him down over some over-hyped dribble that wouldn't raise a welt on any gop Senator in Congress today. I sure loved that guy. He was blisteringly(?) effective, and intelligent. He spoke up along the lines of our blessed Ted Kennedy and kin. I wish he was back too, but, I think I'm selfish in thinking that. We had our chance to defend him. Now he's gone. I hope this man thoroughly enjoys his life and family now. I'm glad he's speaking out, but, as Americans...we let the imposter don ivan absolutely destroy our credibility, our ties w allies, our trade agreements, and peace agreements w impunity, and now wish we had someone to speak truth to power. UGH.
Having second thoughts after you've flattened somebody by throwing him under the bus seems hypocritical and selfish to me. Next time...take a deep breathe, stop demanding perfection from human beings who demonstrably are trying to help, OR in the alternative, setting such high standards that NOBODY goes into politics except self-dealing crooks who just don't give a rip. Let he who's perfect throw the first stone.

WE didn't let him go. He got railroaded. The man never even got the chance to defend himself.

Also remember that Roger Stone knew this was going to happen before we did, when he let it slip that Al was going to get "his turn in the barrel."

That is NOT the way to treat a good democrat. (KG are you listening ?)

Three named accusers, every single one of them lying, two-faced trumpanzees who had no problem voting for a pussygrabber

Four anonymous accusers who sold their stories to willing dupes in the media who "corroborated" their stories with hearsay. Franken was unable to face those accusers, who stories sound preposterous anyway.

One was Tina Dupuy who's allegation basically boils down to this:

Seriously, if you don't like being touched on the waist during photo ops, that is on you for not letting people know beforehand. I guess she really wanted that feature in The Atlantic.

when Franken was attacked.

I do not believe that Franken was guilty of the sexual misconduct.

Franken's demise could have been avoided but for lack of support from some Democratic leaders rather than a hard look at the accusers.

Certainly looks like Franken's political demise was initiated by the right but that he was forced out of office (to protect the Party as much as himself) by competitors within his own party. UInfortunately Franken was hurt and the Democrats that pushed Franken out also harmed their own prospects.

This pattern happens way too much.

I would be happy if Franken returned to poltics and even if he was to run as a Democratic candidate for POTUS. He would have my vote.

Franken was a strong Senator and would have had 10 to 20 years left as Senator or other elected office.

Not that frequent a poster and have made a handful of OPs over the years.

Thought Franken was a thoughtful and well spoken / good intentioned Senator.

Not comfortable with how Franken left office.

Glad he spoke out. Like to see more Franken.

We need his voice more than ever now. It was a mistake to deny him the due process and the investigation he asked for.
