I hope Avenatti doesn't make a run...

Does he know how embarrassing that will be to all of us with sense? He may be qualified to stir the roaches out of the woodwork but he is not qualified for the presidency. Nor is Trump, but we don't need another unqualified person in there. We are trying to save our Democracy! How much more can this nation take?

1. He will. It's all about the attention

Anything else he gets done is secondary to getting attention for himself.

That’s why as soon as public focus shifted to the border he was down there saying he was going to rush out and help the kids, despite having zero actual experience with immigration law.

That’s why he screwed up a meeting between his client and Muellers people by leaking that it would happen after the Mueller team asked it be kept quiet, then blamed Muellers people for being “scared” when they cancelled.

Because it’s all about whatever gets him the most time on camera.

2. meh... Lots can happen between now and primaries. In the meantime, he gets under Trump's skin

like almost no other (Omarosa aside), sheds light on Trump admin's horrendous immigration and related policies and promotes progressive viewpoints. And, his voice is heard--media finds it hard to ignore him. So, for now, I'm content to let him speak. Do I think he'd win the Dem nod? NO.

5. I'm okay with him, too

He probably won't get the nod. But I read somewhere he was 1st in his class at Georgetown Law. He's smart and he can stir the pot. Will he win the primaries, probably not. But if he did it would be because over the course of many months he'd become more 'presidential' and more knowledgeable. It's possible - and in the process he had connected with folks. And if he didn't - more likely - he's doing the good work of an outspoken Democrat.

Let the games continue.

home to his family after eight months separation.

He's not all just talk.

Plus so many are always complaining about timid Dems who don't fight back against trump and the repugs.

Well, he's a fighter, just the opposite of milquetoast Dem guy but he gets skewered all the time here on DU. It's almost like we don't know what we want. We want some one who fights back but then when we get him/her, the reaction is—"oh, he's to attention seeking, he's all about himself, I've had about enough of him."

I say he's free to throw his hat in the ring and we'll see what happens. And I might add, historically the VP nominee in campaigns often takes on an aggressive, pitbull-like role against the oppo candidate while the number one on the ticket stays above the fray. Who better to do that than Avenatti?

3. Avenatti has a proven ability to get media coverage

He's gotten more airtime than the entire Democratic leadership has combined - Pelosi, Hoyer, Schumer and Durbin. That is something that is needed if Trump is still in office in 2020 and running for re-election.

6. I like him, but not as a candidate

I want him continuing to antagonize Trump on TV, not run for office, let alone President!

He also oddly attacked Rep. Swalwell on Twitter.

we are if "but he can fight" and commanding cable coverage are his key attributes. It's a sad joke. That's how we got Trump.

He promised us Trump would resign. Now he says only he can beat him.

No thanks.

... their concerns about who can win when we need to focus on who can govern, as well. I hate that being a politician holds such a scuzzy reputation. These are important skills that are needed to move this nation forward. But I realize you have to win to be able to govern. Democracy ain't easy.

11. What's wrong with Avenatti in debates and on the campaign trail?
Sat Aug 18, 2018, 10:54 AM

He may not win a political contest, but he'd be great on a stage with some of the BS politicians...so I hope he runs if he wants to run.

Personally, I think he'd be a good cabinet member (or press secretary), but that would be a big cut in pay most likely, so who knows if Avenatti would consider going to Washington for some offered job.

We need a woman President for the next election, and there are plenty of qualified women. Hillary was easily as qualified as Obama in my view.

...was more qualified that ALL of them. But after 30 years of being beat up by the right wing media, of course it was a close race, even with a moron like Trump. Before he became the nominee, everyone, even in this red district, hated him. Once he was the nominee they had to support him or vote for Hilary which they refused to do. Still, I know Hillary actually won the presidency. I KNOW the Russians screwed with the machines in those swing states. We don't have all the facts yet, but I know it. I knew early election night some shit was going down. I'd bet most of us on this board felt it and knew.
