To the lawyers out there.

How does a 19 year old male have a warrant issued for aggravated assault.

He goes to the sheriffs office and they let him go and then call him back.

he has to post bail of $1500. The bondsman says that is awful low but anyway. His court day is 1 month from then.

He goes to court and the prosecutor can't figure out what to charge him with, tells him to come back next month.

He does and the prosecutor doesn't figure it is a felony so tells him to go to misdemeanor court next month in September.

Is this a normal thing?

He should not talk to anyone about anything without one.

What information is on the warrant. Surely it must list the charges. It sounds weird. He can check out any law schools nearby as the law students often provide advice. If not, check for legal aid on google for his area.

That is just my opinion and I have no legal training.

If he cannot afford one (has no job, is a student) one can be appointed for him if he applies for a public defender. Surely the judge informed him of this. Don't let him go to court alone again.
