Not Politics: Ford built the 10 millionth Mustang today.

The story is being widely carried. Here is a link to the Detroit Free Press (cuz that seemed an appropriate source for the story):

https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2018/08/08/10-million-mustang-sports-car-record/926863002/

I recall clearly going with my Dad and younger brother to see the first 1964 model at the local Ford dealer. The only one they had, a dark green coupe with a three speed stick six.

Mustang shells were used as Ford Futurama ride cars at the Ford pavilion at the 1964 Worlds Fair in Flushing Meadows, NY.

Wish I'd owned a '65 fast back......

Although, I did own a '78 Pontiac Trans Am!

3. There are no 64's.

The early 65's are referred to as 64 1/2's only because they were produced and sold a few months early and they were slightly different in some respects, minor things. No title would have 64 on it , but the VIN would be the giveaway. I have a very early 65 in pieces I've been working on for ages. It was built a couple weeks after the "64 1/2's" were out of production, I think August or September of 64. The spare tire hold down is the only thing left from the 64 1/5 parts bins. I also had a 66 GT back in 71. Wish I still had it. My son has a 2017 GT 6 speed in my name. Going through the gears is scary and I stop at 4th.

6. My first car was a 1965 Mustang GT in 1965. Paid $2,500 for it.

My dad signed for it but I had a good job out of high school and could afford the payments. Very soon after I got drafted and sent to Vietnam. I had my mom sell the car because friends were sending me letters saying by brother was trashing it.

8. A Guy Here In Town...

...has a 65 with serial #6
His dad was a collector and restoration guy
After his dad died he sold a few, gave a few to friends and family, but kept Mustang #6 and a 54 Caddy convertible.
They didn't chop. These things look like they're right off the showroom floor.
We have a lot of classic car stuff here, because of that family and the fact the old Route 66 runs right through the center of town
